Job Title: Fulfillment Purchasing Lead

Job Description

The Fulfillment Purchasing Lead oversees a team of buyers responsible for the timely procurement of goods and services that support a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This hands-on leadership role drives operational excellence, enhances procurement processes, and strengthens partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of fulfillment buyers, providing training, coaching, performance management, workforce planning, and support with recruiting.
  • Oversee personnel-related activities for the team, including timecard management and adherence to organizational policies.
  • Analyze team workloads and purchasing activity to optimize resource allocation, level-load work, and prioritize requirements across team members.
  • Conduct advanced quantitative analysis to determine overtime needs and ensure purchasing capacity aligns with business demands.
  • Perform business process analysis and develop models to identify efficiencies and streamline purchasing processes.
  • Drive process improvement projects within procurement and in collaboration with connected teams such as accounts payable, shipping, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for suppliers.
  • Establish, monitor, and improve supplier performance metrics, including delivery reliability, quality, cost, and service levels.
  • Manage all departmental escalations from internal stakeholders and ensure timely resolution of purchasing-related issues.
  • Support and manage sourcing activities, including supplier selection, negotiations, contract execution, and ongoing supplier relationship management for assigned spend categories.
  • Provide feedback and support to sourcing team members on supplier strategy and categories served by the fulfillment team.
  • Partner with senior internal stakeholders and external suppliers to drive change management initiatives and improve business outcomes.
  • Issue purchase orders quickly, accurately, and without error, ensuring that suppliers acknowledge and confirm orders.
  • Monitor open purchase orders, review open order reports, and proactively manage delivery schedules to meet business requirements.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and collaborate with vendors and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Leverage data, reporting tools, and analytics platforms to drive decision-making, track performance metrics, and continuously improve procurement operations.
  • Support indirect supplier management and SG&A spend reduction initiatives in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while maintaining high service levels and responsiveness to internal customers.
  • Uphold high standards of integrity, ownership, and accountability in all purchasing and supplier management activities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience.
  • Previous experience leading teams or coordinating purchasing activities in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in a purchasing or supply chain role with responsibility for procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions quickly and effectively.
  • Remarkable problem-solving skills with a bias for speed and action.
  • Ability to perform advanced quantitative analysis to understand workloads, prioritize requirements, and identify process efficiencies.
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong technical skills in current technologies and applications.
  • Experience using reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI, SQL, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to conduct all activities with a high degree of integrity, ownership, and accountability.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to respond quickly in a fast-moving environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, automotive, technology, or other complex supply chain environments.
  • Background in managing or supporting indirect supplier management and SG&A spend reduction initiatives.
  • Experience defining and managing SLAs and KPIs for suppliers, including delivery, cost, quality, and service metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to drive change and improve business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to manage escalations and resolve issues quickly while maintaining strong internal and external relationships.
  • Experience collaborating with accounts payable, shipping, and other cross-functional teams to streamline end-to-end procurement workflows.
  • Track record of leading process improvement initiatives that enhance purchasing effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Comfort working in a progressive procurement organization that challenges traditional methods and emphasizes innovation.
  • Ability to think creatively and "outside the box" to achieve value, improve supplier partnerships, and support aggressive organizational objectives.
  • Capability to learn quickly and prioritize effectively to meet both customer and company needs.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment located in McGregor, Texas. The position requires close collaboration with internal teams such as accounts payable, shipping, and other operational functions, as well as frequent interaction with external suppliers. The work involves extensive use of modern technologies and applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite, analytics tools such as Power BI and SQL, and other reporting platforms to support data-driven decision-making. Team members operate in an environment that values speed, accountability, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on cost, quality, and delivery performance across the supply chain. The role requires flexibility to work extended hours, evenings, or weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines and support key business objectives. You may also need to communicate and respond to urgent business needs outside of standard work hours. This position is fully onsite, with no remote or hybrid work arrangements, and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to ambitious procurement goals that positively impact the product and overall business performance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $170000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
