Job Description
About Build AI
Build AI is the data hyperscaler for Physical AI. We're vertically integrated across hardware, manufacturing, logistics, collection, and model training to scale the physical labor dataset orders of magnitude faster than anyone in the world.
About the Role
We're looking for our first Events & Field Marketing Manager to build Build's events function from scratch. You'll own how Build shows up in the world: the conferences we sponsor, the events we host around them, and the standalone experiences we create for customers, prospects, candidates, and the broader physical AI community.
This is a strategy and execution role. You'll decide where Build should invest, develop creative ways to stand out, and personally make the details happen. One week that might mean planning Build's presence at NeurIPS or CoRL; the next it could mean putting together an intimate dinner for AI researchers, a recruiting event in San Francisco, or an event format we haven't tried before. You'll have significant autonomy, budget, and responsibility for representing Build externally.
What You'll Do
- Build and own Build's events calendar and strategy from scratch.
- Own Build's presence at major AI and robotics conferences, including sponsorships, attendance, activations, and related events.
- Create and execute standalone events for customers, prospects, candidates, and the AI and robotics community -- including events ranging from executive dinners and small gatherings to recruiting events, conferences, launches, and larger experiences.
- Identify which conferences and events Build should invest in based on customer, recruiting, and brand impact.
- Develop creative concepts that make Build memorable and differentiated rather than simply showing up with a booth.
- Own events end-to-end: concept, venue, vendors, contracts, budgets, guest lists, invitations, logistics, onsite execution, and follow-up.
- Measure what works and turn successful experiments into repeatable programs.
- Build the systems and operating processes required to scale the function as Build grows.
You May Be a Good Fit If You
- Have 2+ years of experience in events, field marketing, experiential marketing, or a related role.
- Have personally owned conferences, sponsored events, dinners, or other in-person experiences from concept through execution.
- Are exceptionally organized and detail oriented. You can run several complex projects simultaneously without dropping things.
- Have high agency. When something needs to happen, your instinct is to figure out how to make it happen rather than wait for instructions.
- Are creative and have strong taste. You care about creating experiences people actually remember.
- Are scrappy. You're equally comfortable negotiating a major sponsorship and fixing a last-minute problem yourself five minutes before an event starts.
- Exercise excellent judgment and can represent Build confidently with customers, researchers, candidates, executives, and partners.
- Thrive in ambiguity and like building things from zero rather than inheriting established processes.
- Are willing to travel regularly for conferences and events.
Even Better If
- You've worked at a fast-growing startup and know what it means to operate without much infrastructure.
- You have experience in AI, technology, robotics, or another technical industry.
- You've built an events or field marketing program rather than only executing an existing playbook.
- You've found unconventional ways to create memorable events without simply spending more money.
What Success Looks Like
Build becomes one of the companies people consistently notice at the most important AI and robotics gatherings. Our customers and prospects want to attend our events. Great candidates encounter Build through experiences that make them want to join. Our conference investments produce real relationships and opportunities. And behind the scenes, the entire program runs with exceptional operational discipline. You turn events into a competitive advantage for Build to scale recruiting, brand, and customer acquisition.

How we're different
Build believes in the Bitter Lesson. By taking a general approach of learning from humans, our addressable market is all physical labor. We are a fully in-person team in San Francisco (Financial District) and Shenzhen (Nanshan), and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both and work across disciplines as needed. Build AI is an equal opportunity employer. We review every application. If you do not meet every bullet, still apply.
