Engineering Supervisor

PURPOSE: The Engineering Supervisor is responsible to see that all customer work is planned and processed to ensure control, compliance to internal and external requirements, efficiency, to assist in the set-up and running of all processes and to assist floor personnel.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Development and continual improvement of manufacturing processes, procedures, and tooling to improve manufacturing costs, quality on programs they are responsible for, and support other programs as needed.
• Support Production, Program, and Operations Teams.
• Supports and drives developing, documenting, implementing, supporting, and continually improving efficient, cost-effective production manufacturing processes.
• Analyzes work requirements and outlines the schedules and methods to be followed for efficiency and safety.
• Provides ongoing support for corrective action on manufacturing problems and solving technically challenging production problems.
• Research process performance data to identify and implement manufacturing process improvements.
• Participates in the development of the organization’s Manufacturing Engineering support structure, abilities, and functional groups.
• Provides coordination and monitoring of manufacturing engineering and programming tasks for execution to support the launch of New Programs, ensuring compliance with key dates and productivity objectives.
• Supports Engineering leadership in the absence of the Engineering Manager or Site Engineering Leadership.
• Participates in the assessment, training, and succession plans for the continuous development of the Manufacturing Engineering organization and talent base.
• Ensures all quality standards are met as it relates to process development and risk mitigation.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline is preferred.
• Demonstratable experience in machining environment.
• Organization and attention to detail with multitasking; ability to handle multiple projects.
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, an understanding of tooling and cutting geometries, strong math and computer skills and the conceptual ability to visualize print to part.
• ERP experience.
• Demonstrable computer skills; proficient in Office software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud when on the shop floor. This position also has a role in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. When in the office environment the employee is in a sedentary role, however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
