Job Description
Director of Nursing (DON) – New Branch Expansion
Location: Lincoln, NE
Company: BrightStar Care
Employment Type: Full-Time
About Us
BrightStar Care is expanding our footprint! We are thrilled to be opening our second Nebraska location in Lincoln, NE, and we are looking for a dedicated, growth-oriented nursing leader to help us build this new office from the ground up. As a premier private duty and skilled home healthcare agency, we provide a wide continuum of care-ranging from high-quality personal home care and companion services to advanced medical care, including hands-on infusion therapy. We believe in delivering a higher standard of care directly to our clients in the comfort of their own homes. As a Joint Commission-accredited organization, we hold ourselves to rigorous standards of patient safety, clinical quality, and operational excellence. Our leadership team is deeply invested in hands-on mentorship and collaborative success as we bring our gold standard of home care to Lincoln.
Position Summary
As the Director of Nursing (DON) for our new Lincoln location, you won't just be filling a traditional administrative role-you will be a foundational partner working side-by-side with the owner to launch, scale, and lead our new branch. While Director of Nursing experience is not required, a passion for high-quality patient care and leadership is a must. Infusion nursing experience is strongly preferred, and you will be hands-on providing infusions yourself for our patients. Because this is a brand-new expansion office, you will initially wear multiple hats-diving into direct patient care, community outreach, hiring, scheduling, and staff training, all while maintaining our strict Joint Commission compliance standards. To ensure your success, comprehensive, hands-on training and onboarding will be provided at our established Omaha office over the course of your first few months.
Key Responsibilities
- Branch Launch & Growth: Partner directly with ownership to establish and operationalize the new Lincoln branch, ensuring all clinical and administrative workflows align with Joint Commission accreditation standards.
- Hands-on Training & Onboarding: Complete an immersive training program at our Omaha office during your first few months to learn BrightStar systems, clinical standards, and quality-assurance guidelines.
- Direct Patient Care & Infusions: Provide direct, hands-on skilled nursing care to clients, including administering infusions independently as the branch grows.
- Wear Multiple Hats (Startup Phase): Initially assist with diverse branch needs, including local community outreach, recruiting and hiring field staff, scheduling, and staff training.
- Clinical Leadership & Oversight: Oversee client care assessments, plan of treatment execution, and ongoing clinical compliance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Nebraska (or compact state).
- Experience: Director of Nursing experience is not required -we are looking for the right blend of drive, leadership potential, and clinical competence.
- Preferences: Infusion therapy experience is strongly preferred, with the ability and willingness to perform patient infusions firsthand. Home health or private duty healthcare experience is a major plus.
- Quality & Standards: A strong commitment to maintaining and upholding Joint Commission quality guidelines and patient safety protocols.
- Startup Mentality: Comfortable stepping into a multi-faceted, dynamic role where flexibility, collaboration, and a "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude are key.
- Travel / Training: Ability to commute to/train in Omaha, NE for hands-on onboarding during the initial months of employment.
What We Offer
- Direct Ownership Partnership: Work closely with leadership to shape the culture and success of a brand-new market.
- Comprehensive Mentorship: Paid, hands-on training in Omaha to ensure you are fully equipped before leading the Lincoln charge.
- Competitive Compensation & Benefits: packages tailored to experience.
- Growth Opportunities: as the Lincoln branch expands and scales.
If you are an ambitious RN ready to take the next big step in your healthcare leadership career and help us bring top-tier, Joint Commission-accredited home care to Lincoln, we want to hear from you! Apply today. #OMA456
