Position Summary:

The Director, Dietary, Homes oversees dietary and nutrition services within the home care or residential care setting to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality meal services that support resident health, wellness, and satisfaction. This role provides leadership for dietary operations, including menu planning, food preparation, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and staff supervision while fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment focused on resident-centered care. The Director works closely with interdisciplinary teams to support individualized nutritional needs, maintain compliance with food safety standards, infection prevention practices, and organizational policies, and promote operational efficiency and a positive dining experience for residents and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct and oversee daily dietary operations to ensure safe, nutritious, and high-quality meal service for residents and guests.
• Develop, implement, and monitor menus, food service procedures, and nutritional programs in accordance with regulatory standards and resident dietary needs.
• Supervise, train, and support dietary staff to promote excellent customer service, food safety compliance, and operational consistency.
• Monitor departmental budgets, inventory, purchasing activities, and vendor relationships to support efficient resource management.
• Collaborate with nursing, clinical, and interdisciplinary care teams to address resident nutritional concerns and support individualized care plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with sanitation, infection prevention, safety, and regulatory requirements within all dietary operations.

Qualifications:

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Certified Dietary Manager and CFPP or willing to complete course in 2 years.

Educational Requirements:

Enrollment or completion of 120 hours training program for Dietary Managers that has been approved by the Dietary Managers Association.

Experience Requirements:

Work in health care facility for 5 years or more. Two years of supervisory skills preferred.

Special Skills or Training Requirements:

Knowledge of accounting, quality food purchasing, food purchasing, and food preparation and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

The Director, Dietary, Homes is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout kitchen, dining, and resident care areas. The role may involve lifting or moving food supplies, equipment, or inventory items and assisting with operational tasks during high-volume periods. Adequate vision, hearing, communication skills, and manual dexterity are necessary to supervise staff, inspect food preparation activities, and operate standard office and kitchen equipment safely.

Environmental Requirements:

The role works primarily in dietary service areas, kitchens, dining rooms, storage areas, and residential care environments with exposure to heat, steam, cleaning chemicals, food preparation equipment, and moderate noise levels. The position may encounter exposure to infectious illnesses and must consistently follow infection prevention, food safety, and personal protective equipment protocols. Work may involve responding to operational demands, staffing needs, and varying meal service schedules in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
