Advocates is seeking a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to support a friendly, humorous gentleman with a developmental disability in Lee Center, NY (Rome area). He is looking for a Mentor to assist him with working on goals and community-based activities within his community. Goals include:

• Pursuing hobbies and interests, community activities, and local events.
• Supporting the individual with engaging in recreational activities, skill-building tasks, and participating in current hobbies as well as exploring new ones.

Seeking a DSP who is reliable, enthusiastic, and active. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Please respond with resume or summary of experience. Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.

Hours and days of work: A total of 15 hours are available per week. Three 5-hour weekdays per week between the hours of 9 AM - 3 PM.

Pay rate: $21.30 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16.00 per hour.

Location: Lee Center, NY (Rome area)

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• GED or High School Diploma preferred.
• Applicable job experience preferred.

Other: The individual does not have the authority to set the staff salary in this model. The Mentor is paid at the provider’s rate for the service based on an assessment of the specific support needs of the individual in the areas of behavioral support, communication support, and physical support needs.
