The primary purpose of the Dental Technician is to provide advanced dental laboratory technology expertise in support of patient care, education, and restorative and prosthodontic programs within the Adams School of Dentistry. The Dental Technician independently performs complex and highly specialized dental laboratory procedures utilizing conventional and advanced digital dentistry technologies, including CAD / CAM design and manufacturing, milling, 3D printing, and other evolving fabrication technologies.
The Dental Technician applies comprehensive knowledge of dental anatomy, restorative materials, laboratory equipment, fabrication techniques, and digital workflows to evaluate complex case requirements and determine appropriate technical approaches. The position designs and fabricates complex dental restorations, appliances, surgical guides, and other prosthodontic products; troubleshoots design and fabrication issues; makes appropriate adjustments to product designs and fabrication processes; and develops innovative technical solutions based on clinical specifications and individual case requirements.
The Dental Technician also serves as an advanced technical resource to faculty, residents, and students regarding dental laboratory procedures, materials, equipment, digital workflows, and fabrication techniques. The position provides instruction and consultation on complex conventional and digital dental technologies and develops educational materials to support the integration of dental technology into restorative education and clinical practice. The Dental Technician works under the direction of the Lead Dental Technician and collaborates with faculty, residents, students, and other School partners to support the quality and effectiveness of dental laboratory services.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (on-site)
