Heartline Staffing is recruiting a Construction Manager for a full-time, on-site opportunity in New York City. This position oversees major energy-retrofit construction projects and is responsible for construction coordination, subcontractor management, scheduling, quality control, cost management, and project documentation.

IMPORTANT: The immediate project assignment is located in Queens, NY.

POSITION OVERVIEW

  • Oversee construction activities across major energy-retrofit projects.
  • Provide cost and constructability input during the design phase.
  • Coordinate bidding, subcontractor administration, construction scheduling, and project execution.
  • Lead construction meetings with subcontractors, project teams, and ownership representatives.
  • Monitor construction progress, quality, safety, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Serve as a liaison between subcontractors and engineers to support compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain project documentation and construction-management systems.

COMPENSATION

  • $100,000–$180,000 annual salary

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide cost and constructability input during project design.
  • Coordinate the bid process, including pre-bid walkthroughs.
  • Prepare and administer subcontract agreements.
  • Coordinate the project submittal process.
  • Schedule, supervise, and coordinate subcontractor activities.
  • Direct construction meetings involving subcontractors, project teams, and ownership representatives.
  • Maintain detailed three-week construction schedules and support updates to the overall project schedule.
  • Monitor construction progress against contractual completion dates.
  • Ensure construction specifications and project requirements are followed.
  • Establish and maintain quality-control procedures and safety practices.
  • Provide assignments, direction, and mentorship to project staff.
  • Manage project cost-control and forecasting systems.
  • Prepare monthly cost-versus-budget reports for project stakeholders.
  • Maintain construction-management software in accordance with company procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another construction-related field with 6+ years of professional experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating the required skills and abilities REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of the construction process REQUIRED
  • Experience with field operations and construction means and methods REQUIRED
  • Ability to identify, correct, and avoid potential schedule, budget, and quality issues REQUIRED
  • Ability to make project decisions while considering cost, schedule, and impact to customer operations REQUIRED
  • Ability to lead and coordinate subcontractors and project teams REQUIRED
  • Strong organizational and project-documentation skills REQUIRED
  • Ability to manage multiple project activities simultaneously REQUIRED
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills REQUIRED
  • Ability to maintain and develop client relationships REQUIRED

Preferred

  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in commercial or institutional facilities
  • Knowledge of the design and commissioning process
  • Experience with boilers, chillers, air-handling units, and electrical-power upgrades
  • Experience working on projects involving New York City or New York State agencies
  • PMP certification or interest in obtaining PMP certification
