Position Summary

Join our Emergency Department and Float Pool Team as an Emergency Department Technician. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care and support services that promote the physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being of patients. You will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and patient-centered care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient care and support, including hourly rounding and responding promptly to patient needs.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and triage-related activities.
• Perform clinical procedures within scope, including:
• Vital signs
• EKGs and cardiac monitoring
• Foley catheter insertion and removal
• Blood glucose testing
• Saline lock insertion
• Specimen collection and labeling
• Application of splints, ACE wraps, ice packs, and crutches
• Assist with emergency and trauma procedures, including CPR support and patient preparation.
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Provide observation and support for patients requiring constant monitoring.
• Prepare treatment areas, stock supplies, and maintain a clean and organized environment.
• Assist with clerical and operational duties including supply management, order entry, phone communication, and paging support.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a nursing assistant program required.

Experience

• One year of experience on a medical-surgical unit or comparable healthcare setting preferred.

Certifications

• Maryland Nursing Assistant Certification required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
