Employee will be assigned to the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff (Medicine Services), VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System, Topeka, KS, and is responsible for the coordination, and integration of operational and administrative functions of the clinical services that fall under the scope of the Deputy Chief of Staff (Medicine Services).
Duties THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-9. At the GS-7 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-9. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds.
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm or 8:00am - 4:30pm or 8:30am - 5:00p or 9:00am - 5:30pm.

Telework: This position may be authorized for Ad-hoc telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE-GS7: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience includes: providing administrative coordination and support for a clinical/healthcare area; collecting and analyzing data; coordinating daily coverage for clinical areas; monitoring training requirements; and preparing reports.
OR Superior Academic Achievement at the GS-7 level (Transcript Required): (SAA) at the baccalaureate level with coursework that directly reflects the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position is fully qualifying. OR COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-GS7: Combination of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE-GS9: Successful completion of possess two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education or masters or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position, is fully qualifying for the GS-9. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
OR COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-GS9: Combination of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
The work is primarily sedentary and is performed at a computer or desk. It includes ordinary movement between offices and clinical areas, occasional standing and walking, and carrying light items. Travel between the Topeka and Leavenworth campuses and occasional visits to Community Based Outpatient Clinics may be required.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
