GE HealthCare is a leading global medical technology and digital solutions innovator. Our mission is to create a world where healthcare has no limits. Unlock your ambition, turn ideas into world-changing realities, and join an organization where every voice makes a difference, and every difference builds a healthier world.
In this role, the Client Service Technician Apprentice will observe and perform various equipment service processes and procedures to drive customer satisfaction and ensure proper functionality of less complex customer diagnostic imaging equipment. This is an onsite customer‑facing service position focused on maintaining and repairing medical equipment in healthcare environments. Time is spent supporting customers in hospitals and clinical settings, serving as the face of GE HealthCare at customer sites in Melville, NY.
This one-year apprenticeship is designed to prepare candidates for a long‑term career in field service. The apprenticeship will be scheduled to align with the anticipated availability of a Level 1 position to support continuity of employment following program completion.
Field roles are most effectively performed outside of GE HealthCare facilities and generally take place at customer locations, including hospitals and healthcare environments. Healthcare operations run 24/7. Apprentices must be flexible to support customer needs, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or adjusted hours based on service or customer requirements. Travel to customer locations may be required, depending on market and business needs.
Local candidates strongly preferred. Any relocation beyond 30 miles from your current location must be approved by your manager in advance.
Successful completion of the apprenticeship and conversion to a full‑time internal position are based on performance, business need, and role availability. Candidates who are open to relocation may increase their chances of placement into a full‑time internal role. In 2025, 84% of apprentices completing the program moved into full time internal positions.
Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 35 pounds unassisted and perform frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and standing for extended periods. Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level; flex and extend neck; and demonstrate good hand and finger dexterity. Specific vision abilities may include color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Must successfully complete GE HealthCare background checks, post‑offer drug testing, and ongoing customer access requirements, including required immunizations (obtaining and/or providing proof), additional drug tests/background checks (including a federal government background check if assigned to support a contract with the federal government), and site‑specific compliance protocols.
