Requirements / Qualifications

The following are required documents and must be submitted in order to move forward:

• Cover Letter
• Resume
• Completed online application
• 3 Letters of Recommendation - valid within the last two years
• Copy of Valid Substitute Teaching Permit or California Teaching Credential
• Certificate of Clearance through CTC
• CBEST (or appropriate coursework indicating BSR)
• DOJ - Fingerprinted through Lowell Joint School District or OCDE Clearing House
• TB Clearance that has been completed within past 60 days or within 30 days of hiring

AB-2534 Employment History

As of January 1, 2025, in accordance with Education Code section 44939.5 (as amended by California AB2534) applicants for certificated positions are required by law to provide a complete list of every school district, county office of education, charter school and/or state special school with which you have previously been employed, regardless of the length of service. For all certificated positions, please be comprehensive in disclosing any part-time, full-time and substitute employment. Failure to disclose any previous educational employment may result in the disqualification of your application.

You must list all previous LEAs (Local Education Agencies) where you have been employed. If multiple LEAs are within the same district, only the district information is required. An LEA is a local entity involved in education including but not limited to school districts, county offices of education, direct-funded charter schools, and special education local plan area (SELPA).

The Lowell Joint School District is one of the leading districts throughout the state of California. Our students receive a quality education from outstanding teachers whose top priority is the success of their students. The District is located in the southeastern portion of Los Angeles County and the northwestern portion of Orange County. It serves families from the communities of La Habra, La Habra Heights, and Whittier. The District serves the educational needs of students in Transitional Kindergarten through eighth grade at five K-6 elementary schools and one intermediate school. All six schools have received the California Distinguished School Award and acknowledge the importance of education, the family, and traditional American values. There is an emphasis on higher education, personal integrity, social responsibility, Character Education, and an appreciation of our national heritage.
