Banquets Captain

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Banquets Captain. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and assisting with the setup, service, and clean-up of all assigned banquet functions. You are responsible for the banquet team to ensure guest service is beyond expectations so that the Resort will meet and/or exceed budgeted expectations. As part of our leadership team, you’ll embody our Promise to Lead with Love—guiding, supporting, and inspiring associates while delivering extraordinary guest experiences. You’ll ensure to create a welcoming, polished atmosphere that reflects the resort’s hospitality and attention to detail. You’ll support associates by providing clear event information, ensuring smooth coordination, and reinforcing a consistent, professional service experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect the setup of meeting and banquet functions, checking them against the banquet event orders (BEO’s).
• Supervise and assist with the setup of assigned catered functions, ensuring that the hotel’s standards are met, and advance preparation for service is adequate to allow efficient service to the guest once the function begins.
• Act as liaison between Sales/Catering Manager and the in-house meeting or banquet contact.
• Supervise and assist with the breakdown after the completion of functions to ensure that all equipment and supplies are stored properly.
• Maintain a high-quality image of the hotel through effective housekeeping, maintenance, and sanitation in the area of responsibility.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

What We’re Looking For

1 year of supervisory or management experience in food service or the hospitality industry in a convention center or large hotel (over 500 room property) is preferred. Prior experience as a server and set-up houseperson is required. Must be able to read, write and fluently speak English. Bilingual skills are helpful. Must have multi-task skills and experience to implement large group activities that require the coordination of numerous services. Flexible long hours are sometimes required, including weekends and holidays. Ability to move frequently throughout the large facilities.
