Job Description

About the Role

This is primarily a people management role, not a hands-on BA position. The ideal candidate brings extensive BA history — ideally with prior management experience, or at minimum experience as a Lead — and is ready to step into a leadership position overseeing up to 16 direct reports. Strong people management skills are the top priority; insurance industry experience is a plus. This role operates in a learn-as-you-go environment that rewards adaptability, initiative, and comfort with ambiguity.

Infrastructure track:

A technical background in data, infrastructure, or cloud is helpful, as this manager will mentor and coach BAs working in those areas.

Guidewire track:

A background in database integration is helpful for this track.

What You'll Do

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of up to 16 Business Analysts, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Hire strong talent and support business continuity through thoughtful succession planning.
  • Coach BAs on skills development, including business acumen, technical skills, and professional growth.
  • Foster an engaged, high-performing team culture with a focus on continuous learning and development.

Process & Governance

  • Identify opportunities to document guidelines and best practices where they may not currently exist.
  • Support the development and standardization of BA processes, tools, and frameworks across the team.
  • Lean on HR and training resources to support team development and onboarding.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with IT leadership, HR, and cross-functional stakeholders to align BA capabilities with organizational priorities.
  • Support the growing complexity of a large BA portfolio by ensuring proper leadership coverage and team structure.

What Skills You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field required; Master's degree preferred but not required.
  • Extensive Business Analysis background with prior people management experience strongly preferred; Lead-level BA experience considered.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, evolving environments with limited predefined structure.
  • Adaptable, quick learner with a demonstrated commitment to continued education and professional growth — certifications and upskilling are viewed favorably.
  • Stable career history demonstrating commitment and depth of experience across organizations.
  • Strong people management skills — this is the most critical qualification for this role.
  • Insurance industry background preferred but not required.

Infrastructure Track — Preferred Additional Skills

  • Technical background in data, infrastructure, or cloud environments.
  • Ability to mentor and coach BAs working in infrastructure-focused areas.

Guidewire Track — Preferred Additional Skills
