Position Title: Assistant Director of Career Events & Marketing

Time Type: Full time

Position Summary and Qualifications:

The Assistant Director of Career Events & Marketing plays a critical role in increasing employer, student, and alumni engagement by executing high-impact events and targeted marketing strategies. This role is responsible for designing and leading the Career Center's marketing and branding strategies across digital and physical platforms to maximize student and employer participation in all events and programs. The Assistant Director is also responsible for the complete logistical planning, coordination, and execution of three to six large-scale Career Fairs annually, as well as on-campus recruiting activities (including Meet & Greet Tables, Information Sessions, and Career Chats) and interviews for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students and alumni. Additionally, the Assistant Director manages the logistics for all Career Center workshops and tabling events and trains and supervises a student Marketing Intern.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Marketing, Content Creation & Promotion

• Marketing Strategy: Formulate and execute the Career Center’s multi-channel branding and communications strategy to drive student, alumni, and employer engagement in events and programs.
• Social Media & Content Creation: Build, manage, and maintain the Career Center's professional social media strategy, with a focus on Instagram and LinkedIn; oversee content calendars, schedule regular posts, and create engaging digital assets to maximize audience reach and social media presence.
• Visual Design: Create, design, and distribute high-quality visual materials using design platforms such as Canva to publicize Career Center programs, recruiting events, and resources.
• Digital & Physical Signage: Manage submissions to the University’s digital signage system and coordinate timely Handshake and University Calendar submissions for all major events, promotions, and workshops.
• Marketing Performance & Campaign Reporting: Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance of email marketing campaigns, social media outreach, and other digital promotions for Career Fairs and recruiting events to measure student and employer reach, evaluate engagement, and optimize future promotional strategies.
• Campus Promotion: Coordinate with SJU academic and administrative departments to create and execute cross-promotional strategies that raise student and faculty awareness of entry-level jobs, internships, and experiential learning programs.
• Office Branding: Coordinate sourcing and purchasing of branded promotional materials.
• Website Management: Oversee Career Center website content and updates for student, employer, faculty and alumni pages.

Event Planning & Logistics

• Career Fair Management: Plan, manage, and coordinate all event logistics for three to six major Career Fairs annually, serving as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders.
• Campus Partnerships: Collaborate extensively with internal University departments—including Public Safety, Facilities, Conference & Event Services, Athletics, Alumni Relations, and Aramark—to ensure seamless event logistics, setup, catering, and security.
• On-Campus Recruiting Logistics: Oversee and implement coordination, spacing, and physical setup for on-campus recruiting activities and onsite interviews each school year (such as employer Meet & Greet Tables, Information Sessions, and Career Chats).
• Market and Cost Analysis: Conduct annual competitive analyses around on-campus recruiting event pricing, structures, and vendor costs to inform revenue generation and event budgeting strategies.
• Employer Event Consultations: Provide logistical support to employers that request on-campus recruiting events and interviews on Handshake. Coordinate strategic location and timing of events with employers to maximize their recruiting presence on campus.
• Career Center Program Management: Work with various members of the Career Center team to manage the logistics of all Career Center workshops and tabling events each semester.

Supervision & Office Operations

• Marketing Intern Supervision: Recruit, interview, hire, and supervise a dedicated Marketing Intern to support marketing campaigns and event coordination.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Participate in staff professional development activities and meetings.
• Assist in staffing for a minimum of 3 major University events per academic year. Examples of events include Move In, August Orientation, Family Weekend, Commencement, etc.
• Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Employer Engagement.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Graphic Design or a related field.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, with demonstrated experience in event planning, communications, marketing, or related operations.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including a proven ability to collaborate with diverse internal departments and external constituents.
• Proficiency with modern graphic design, website and content creation tools (such as Canva and Druple) and experience creating digital promotional assets.
• Proven direct or indirect experience with end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of professional events of various sizes.
• Strong project management, prioritization, organizational, creative, problem-solving, and analytical reasoning skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Canva.
• Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment.

Preferred

• Proven experience managing professional social media channels, particularly LinkedIn and Instagram.
• Experience with departmental management systems, such as Handshake.
• Experience generating reports and using data to guide marketing and event strategy.
• Experience and preference for working on a highly collaborative team.
• Experience supervising interns or other direct reports.

Physical Requirements & Unusual Work Hours:

• Mobility to move around campus
• Ability to lift 10-15 lbs.
• Occasional evening and weekend hours for University Events

Pay Transparency:
