Assistant animal control officer per diem

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and responsible individual to join our team as an Assistant Animal Control Officer on a per diem basis. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the enforcement of animal control laws and regulations, as well as providing care and shelter for animals in need. You will work closely with other animal control officers and staff to ensure the safety and well-being of animals in our community.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with animals in a shelter or veterinary setting
• Certification as an Animal Control Officer
• Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques
• Bilingual in English and Spanish

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the capture and impoundment of stray, sick, or injured animals
• Provide care and shelter for animals in the animal control facility
• Investigate complaints of animal cruelty, neglect, or abuse
• Educate the public on responsible pet ownership and animal control laws
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required

Skills:

As an Assistant Animal Control Officer, you will utilize your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the public and educate them on responsible pet ownership. You will also use your knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques to safely capture and impound animals. In addition, you will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have the physical ability to lift and carry animals as needed. Your attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records will be essential in this role.
