Job Title: Art Specialist

Job Description

The Art Specialist prepares, inspects, and processes customer artwork and proofs to meet established production requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role uses Adobe Illustrator and other design tools extensively to create accurate, production-ready files, identify and resolve artwork issues before they impact manufacturing, and support high-quality print and production outcomes. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys technology, detailed computer work, problem-solving, and producing precise, reliable results that directly influence manufacturing quality.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, inspect, and process customer artwork and proofs in accordance with established production requirements and quality standards.
  • Use Adobe Illustrator extensively to modify, clean up, and prepare artwork for manufacturing, ensuring files are accurate and production-ready.
  • Build precise, production-ready digital files and proactively identify potential artwork or production issues before they become problems.
  • Clean up and prepare logos and other graphics for digitizing and production, ensuring clarity, consistency, and proper formatting.
  • Review layouts, colors, dimensions, positioning, and other technical specifications for accuracy and alignment with customer and production requirements.
  • Troubleshoot artwork and file-related issues, resolving problems efficiently to keep production on schedule.
  • Maintain organized electronic archives and file systems to ensure artwork and production files are easy to locate, track, and update.
  • Work with Adobe Photoshop, Checkmate, Microsoft Excel, Automation Engine, Indigo front-end tools, Scan Master Designer, and other production technologies as part of daily tasks.
  • Assist in other trained or cross-trained areas as needed to support overall production and team goals.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance as required to keep tools and systems operating effectively.
  • Collaborate with team members to support a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma with proficiency in English and Math.
  • Strong computer and technical skills, with the ability to work confidently in multiple software applications.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator or similar graphics software, with the ability to modify, clean up, and prepare artwork for production.
  • Ability to review and verify layouts, colors, dimensions, and positioning for technical accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, production-ready files.
  • Ability to troubleshoot artwork and file-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Organizational skills to maintain structured electronic archives and file systems.
  • Comfort working with tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Checkmate, Microsoft Excel, Automation Engine, Indigo front-end tools, and Scan Master Designer, or the ability to learn them quickly.
  • Capability to perform routine equipment maintenance as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Interest in technology, detailed computer work, and problem-solving within a manufacturing context.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in art design, graphic design, or related fields, particularly in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience in customer support or order entry related to artwork or file processing.
  • Understanding of layout, color, graphics, or print production processes.
  • Post-secondary training in graphic arts or a related discipline (preferred but not required).
  • Familiarity with file processing workflows and preparing artwork specifically for manufacturing.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented, continuous-improvement culture.

Work Environment

This is an onsite role based in a clean, safe, advanced manufacturing environment, working on-site five days a week with no remote option. Standard hours are 7:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mason City, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
