About Us

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work

The Administrative Associate II is located at Alexander Correctional in Taylorsville, NC and works within the Health Services/Behavioral Health Section of the Department of Adult Corrections. Alexander houses up to 1,252 male offenders in a closed custody facility.

Positions at this level require (but are not limited to) processing all incoming and outgoing mail, receiving incoming shipments of supplies, materials, and/or equipment for the Mental Health department. Ensuring the efficient and timely processing of offender and staff mail while in compliance with established DAC policies and procedures. Coordinating research for mental health offender grievances. Performing a variety of office and/or technical tasks, in order to accomplish the specialized processing of information, documents, and/or materials. Scheduling mental health appointments, preparing and maintaining logs/reports, coordinating tracking systems for mental health offenders, and meeting daily and monthly deadlines. Communicating both orally and in writing with offenders, offender families, staff, management, government officials, and the general public.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range $31,200-$51,249 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred (must be documented in work history): Documented experience performing administrative functions in an office setting. Documented organizational and interpersonal skills as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
