We’re looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant to join our team in Lenexa, Kansas. What you’ll be doing

You’ll play an important role in supporting our day-to-day accounting operations, helping ensure accurate financial records, efficient processes and positive relationships with customers and vendors.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Accounts Receivable: Review, enter and process customer invoices and payments, maintaining accurate customer accounts and managing cash receipts, returns, credits and refunds.
• Accounts Payable: Review and process vendor invoices and payments, manage accounts payable transactions and maintain the accounts payable ledger.
• General Ledger: Prepare and process general ledger journals to support accurate financial reporting.
• Organisation and Compliance: Maintain clear, accurate financial records and documentation in line with company policies and procedures.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, streamline processes and support the wider finance team.
• Team Support: Assist with additional accounting and administrative duties as required.

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking someone who is organised, proactive and takes pride in getting the details right. You’ll be comfortable working with accounting systems, managing competing priorities and communicating effectively with colleagues, customers and vendors.

Essential qualifications and experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of accounting experience.
• A solid understanding of accounting principles, applicable regulations and current accounting practices.
• Experience with accounting software and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong attention to detail and a structured, systems-driven approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to manage financial information accurately and maintain well-organised records.

Desirable experience:

• An associate degree or higher, alongside at least two years of accounting experience.
• Experience using Sage 100.
• Experience working with subcontractors across accounting, personnel or finance.
• Relevant industry experience.
• A proactive mindset, with the confidence to think creatively and suggest improvements to existing processes.
