Quality assurance engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities

• Ensure products meet established quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Conduct quality inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished products.
• Monitor production processes to identify and prevent quality defects and non-conformities.
• Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Maintain accurate quality inspection, testing, and reporting records.
• Support the development, review, and implementation of Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring quality problems and recommend improvement measures.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and other departments to improve product quality.
• Participate in internal quality audits and support external/customer audits.
• Monitor and report quality KPIs, trends, defects, and customer complaints.
• Ensure measuring and testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Assurance, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional qualification or training in Quality Management/Quality Assurance is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 9001 requirements.
• Understanding of quality inspection, testing, statistical quality control, and root-cause analysis.
• Knowledge of CAPA, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, Pareto Analysis, and other quality improvement tools.
• Good understanding of manufacturing and production processes, preferably in a steel, roofing, or related manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prepare quality reports and maintain proper documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and under pressure.
• Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment will be an added advantage.
