What is the opportunity?

RBC is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our RBC Caribbean technology team, supporting Core Banking and Specialized applications. In this role, you’ll apply your strong programming and computer science foundation to contribute to quality engineering (QE) processes, test automation, and methodologies. Your focus will be on designing and implementing automation solutions to enhance quality through early defect detection, while collaborating with experienced engineers to refine your skills in industry-leading tools and frameworks.

What will you do?

  • Design and develop test automation scripts and frameworks under senior guidance, ensuring alignment with RBC’s Quality Engineering practices.
  • Contribute to automated test planning and execution for projects, with opportunities to grow into independent planning responsibilities.
  • Apply analytical and technical skills to drive defect prevention and early detection initiatives.
  • Explore and implement AI-driven testing approaches (e.g., intelligent test generation) as part of team projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create test suites, traceability matrices, and support test walkthroughs.
  • Maintain and optimize automation scripts for Core Banking and Specialized applications, partnering with IT and business teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, with a solid understanding of software development principles.
  • Familiarity with test automation tools/frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cucumber, RestAssured, Robot Framework, TestNG) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Knowledge of software testing concepts, including test case design, API/microservices testing, and non-functional testing (e.g., performance, security).
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on optimizing testing processes through automation.

Nice-to-have

  • Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies as a Quality Engineer or SDET.
  • Coursework or projects involving AI-driven testing, BDD, or microservices architectures.

What’s in it for you?

  • Mentorship and growth opportunities to advance your SDET career in a dynamic environment.
  • Access to cutting-edge tools and training to sharpen your technical expertise.
  • A collaborative, high-performing team committed to innovation and mutual success.
  • Competitive benefits, including a comprehensive Total Rewards Program.
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact in Caribbean communities through technology.
