About the role

NPL has an immediate vacancy within the Community Projects of the Capital and Projects Department for a Planner – Material Coordinator – Construction Projects role. Reporting to the Superintendent – Community Projects, the suitable candidate will play a key role in aligning the construction schedules with material supply chains. The planner will ensure that all required materials and equipment are available when needed, while maintaining accurate documentation, minimizing delays and optimizing workflow efficiency across construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will;

  • Develop and manage project material schedules aligned with construction timelines
  • Coordinate with procurement, suppliers, and site teams to ensure timely delivery of materials
  • Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and manage storage logistics
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to material availability or delays
  • Collaborate with project managers to align planning with on-site needs
  • Maintain accurate records of material usage, deliveries, and costs
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in material handling
  • Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Policy and all related rules and procedures

Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, you will need;

  • Proven experience in planning or material coordination within the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, procurement, and supply chain logistics
  • Proficiency with project management and inventory software (e.g., MS Project, excel, SAP, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize under pressure
  • Relevant qualifications in construction management, logistics, or engineering are desirable

Mobilization Requirements

This is a PNG National Staff position, a site-based role on a Fly in Fly out arrangement with rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
