Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

SPD stands for Spiritual Progress and Development. It is the part of the Church Ministry that helps members grow in their faith and serve as workers and leaders. SPD has two arms: Maturity, which runs the Midweek Service, Testimonies, the Foundation Course, and the annual Awakening event; and Ministry, which recruits, trains, and cares for workers. The Head of SPD leads both arms, making sure they run well and consistently across every HICC campus, and reports to the Head of Church Ministry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Leading the SPD Directorate
    • Set the direction and standards for how members grow spiritually and develop as workers, across all HICC campuses.
    • Lead the team directly under this role, the Central Maturity Coordinator and the Central Ministry Coordinator, and make sure both teams work to the same standard from campus to campus.
    • Speak about Maturity and Ministry matters when meeting with the Head of Church Ministry and the wider leadership team.
  2. Overseeing Maturity (Growth and Faith Programs)
    • Approve the standard program for the weekly Midweek Service before it goes out to campuses.
    • Coordinate the Foundation Course, the three-week class that trains new converts, making sure it runs on schedule and new converts are properly brought into the church.
    • Ensure proper management of testimonies collection and verification before testimonies are shared during services.
    • Lead the planning of Awakening, the annual event that runs during the 21 Days Fast, working with the Senior Pastor and the planning committee.
    • Read the Maturity reports that come in and step in where something isn't being done consistently.
  3. Overseeing Ministry (Worker Development)
    • Manage the worker onboarding process, from recruitment and introduction to the church through the first three months of observation and confirmation.
    • Coordinate the BLC (Basic Leadership Course), delivered three times a year, and ALC (Advanced Leadership Course), delivered twice a year, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
    • Oversee workers' care, so that any worker who misses two Sundays in a row is followed up on.
    • Make sure the records of who is a worker, who is a leader, and who has completed training stay accurate and current.
    • Review the Ministry reports before they go to the Head of Church Ministry.
  4. Reporting
    • Receive and check the reports coming from the Central Maturity Coordinator and Central Ministry Coordinator.
    • Bring Maturity and Ministry information together into one report for the Head of Church Ministry.
    • Keep an overview of the key numbers for both arms: attendance, Foundation Course, BLC/ALC, and worker and leader counts.
  5. Solving Problems
    • Check that Maturity and Ministry processes are being followed the same way at every campus.
    • Be the person the Central Coordinators come to when something can't be resolved at their level.
    • Help decide how to handle situations that fall outside the normal process.
  6. Developing the Team
    • Support and grow the Central Maturity Coordinator, the Central Ministry Coordinator, and their teams.
    • Help Campus Maturity and Ministry Coordinators understand what's expected of them and how to deliver it well.
    • Work with Pastors, HODs, and campus leaders to keep spiritual growth and worker development a priority everywhere.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Ministry, Religious Studies, or a related field. A relevant degree in another discipline is acceptable; ministry training is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in church ministry, with demonstrated leadership in member development, worker development, discipleship, or volunteer/workforce programs.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing ministry operations across multiple teams, departments, or campuses.
  • Strong understanding of HICC’s spiritual growth and development pathway, including Growth Track, Foundation Course, BLC, and ALC.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, coordinate programs, maintain ministry standards, and work effectively with senior church leadership.

Benefits

  • 13th Month Pay
  • Pension
  • Leave Allowance
  • HMO
