Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Own, develop and execute the strategy for a portfolio of named employer schemes (corporates, multinationals, public sector). Engage C-suite, HR Directors, CFOs to win and retain schemes. Structure and negotiate complex Group Life arrangements — high sums assured, bespoke riders, flexible benefit designs and multi-year terms — with Underwriting and Actuarial. Drive profitable growth and renewal retention; manage scheme experience, claims experience and rating reviews with clients. Lead differentiated propositions built on service SLAs, and value-added benefits. Coordinate cross-functionally on onboarding, administration, claims and experience-based rating. Provide guidance, deal support and mentoring to Business Development/Acquisition Officers; where applicable, supervise a small team. Maintain accurate portfolio forecasts, account plans and management reporting.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Portfolio GWP growth (year-on-year) versus target.
  • Named-scheme wins and total sum-assured / premium secured.
  • Portfolio persistency (e.g. at or above 90%) and loss ratio within tolerance.
  • Profitability and experience management on key schemes.
  • Rider / benefit expansion (wallet share) on existing schemes.
  • Forecast accuracy and completeness of strategic account plans.
  • Where supervising: team target attainment and Officer development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • A first degree from a recognised Institution
  • A relevant professional certification (e.g. CIIN) or a management qualification an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years' sales / business development experience, with a proven record of winning and growing corporate Group Life or employee-benefits business.
  • Insurance / employee-benefits experience strongly preferred.
  • Established network across large corporates, public sector and associations in Nigeria.
  • Confident, autonomous and highly credible at senior HR and finance level.
  • Advanced scheme-structuring and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial and analytical acumen (experience rating, loss ratios).
  • Creative in differentiating a standardised product beyond price.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and adept with AI / data-driven selling.
  • Leadership presence, with the ability to mentor and lift others.
