Medical Officer Position – General Practitioner Namibia

Vacancies for General Practitioner in private practice within Namibia. We are looking for passionate & dynamic practitioners with experience in emergency unit/casualty care, based in an urban community setting, and primary health care in urban/rural settings.

JOB OVERVIEW

As a General Practitioner, you will be responsible for the management of emergency medical & trauma patients, primary health care and telemedicine patients in a private health care facility, aeromedical setting and remote site/offshore environment. The patient population will include Neonatal, paediatric, and adult patients. You will be expected to provide emergency medical treatment, general medical treatment, diagnostic, evaluation and planned medical care for these patients including transfer to higher care facilities. You will also assess and treat patients in residential or workplace environments, as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responding to & management of emergency patients, primary healthcare patients & telemedicine consultations.
• Assessing patients, providing medical or emergency treatment, monitoring and making preliminary diagnoses which would be the basis of referral or management thereof.
• Communicating effectively & professionally to clients, patients, and other public members.
• Detailed & comprehensive record keeping.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical Degree - MBChB (Namibia / SA/Any other reputable International Medical School)
• Minimum 3 years emergency department/casualty experience and/or in-hospital experience
• Total of 3 to 5 years of clinical experience as a general practitioner
• ACLS/ ACLS-EP (Preferred)
• ITLS/ ATLS (Preferred)
• PALS/APLS
• EMOVA/DAMIT (Airway Management Courses) (Preferred)
• Ultrasound Course/EGLS (Preferred)
• BOSIET

REQUIREMENTS

• Active registration with the HPCNA as a General Medical Practitioner or HPCSA as a General Medical Practitioner
• Driver’s licence (Code 8/Code B)
• CPD compliant and in good standing with the HPCNA/HPCSA
• Valid Passport
• Pass & maintain a current full occupational medical (Annual)
• Obtain BOSIET, ACLS EP, PALS/APLS, EMOVA/DAMIT & Ultrasound/EGLS within twelve (12) months of employment
