Job Description

Job Purpose and Impact

This position is responsible to oversee the Cargill Good Lab Practice (GLP) requirement and to make sure all analysis, apparatus and procedures align with it. Besides, this role is also to control quality of incoming raw material, in-process as well as finished products, to perform statistic review for continuous improvement.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain and coordinate the lab technician partnership and training systems.
  • Provide process improvement support, specialized testing, training, audit systems, analyze data, identify trends, troubleshoot, corrective action and communication regarding processing data, final product and wastewater.
  • Assess quality parameters and systems including cross checks, raw materials, calibration, maintenance, procedures, food safety, training, auditing and oversight of analytical testing.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Connect with stakeholders (Production, External Service Providers) to handle quality matters and external lab testing request.
  • Documentation updates as required by FSSC 22000 and GLP.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Good Laboratory Practice:

  • FSQR Personnel Competency – to ensure training and proficiency test (internal/ external) is conducted as planned.
  • Equipment Reliability - to ensure all Lab Equipment are calibrated and well-maintained in good condition at time of testing.
  • Testing Accuracy – to ensure all internal control plan of testing (Lab Equipment performance verification/ standardization of chemical reagent and etc.) is conducted as planned.
  • To support process validation, process improvement as well as new product/ process. To develop new testing method as required by business or operation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Food Technology.
  • Need to register with Lembaga Kimia Malaysia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to work independently, possess positive working attitude with high initiative level, and communicate effectively.
  • Necessary English reading capacity.
  • Experience with chemical analysis (preferable)- oils and fats, starch, sweeteners, etc.
  • Knowledge in calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot various analytical instruments such as GC, HPLC, AAS, ICP, NIR etc.
  • Able to demonstrate sound understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), method validation and report writing.
  • Minimum of two years of working experience in the chemical industry lab.
  • Willing to be based in Westport, Selangor.
