Job Description

The Product Compliance Specialist I is expected to own and improve product verification workflows such as Bin Checks, Test Buys, Metrology, ML model labelling and behaviors — to detect counterfeit, used-sold-as-new, damaged, wrong item and expired products in Amazon’s fulfillment network. This role is expected to write and maintain SOPs, perform root cause analysis, handle escalations, train the team, and work closely with stakeholders to improve product quality outcomes. The specialist is also expected to support upstream and downstream detection systems to integrate into the workflow seamlessly.

Key job responsibilities

  • expected to operate independently in ambiguous situations, exercise sound judgment, and influence decisions independently
  • expected to identify policy changes that affect GPV verification workflows, update SOPs accordingly, and train the team on changes
  • expected to analyze data to identify trends, anomalies, risk signals, and opportunities for proactive intervention
  • expected to perform root cause analysis to resolve product quality incidents within their scope of work
  • expected to draft and maintain workflows, work instructions, and SOPs for the team that align with team strategies
  • expected to create and use reports (e.g., quality trends, regional metrics) from multiple data sources to improve process metrics
  • expected to mentor and support team members by sharing investigation methodologies and best practices

About the team

The Global Product Verification (GPV) team is Amazon's premier product authentication and verification team, protecting marketplace integrity through comprehensive product verification systems. We specialize in seller verification, strategic product procurement, and implementing comprehensive authentication standards. By focusing on PQ metrics, we tackle critical challenges including counterfeit prevention, expiration compliance, and product condition accuracy. Through collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, we ensure Amazon remains the most trusted destination for authentic products worldwide.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of quality assurance engineering experience, or Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, computer science, operations research, business analytics, information systems or equivalent
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Experience working with large datasets, determining trends/patterns which can be used for value decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent, or Associate's degree
  • 2+ years of fraud/risk investigations experience
  • 3+ years of implementing metric-based strategies utilizing continuous improvement concepts, or 2+ years of fraud identification and detection, investigation and analysis for root causing and providing suitable preventive mechanisms experience
