Department Profile

The Fixed Income Division is comprised of Interest Rate, Currency Products, Commodities, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, derivatives, lending and repo products, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets.

Background on the Team

As part of the Fixed Income Division, the Sales Assistant is responsible for working with and supporting the NY Rates Sales desk from Mumbai. Sales Assistant provides high-quality front-office support to Rates Sales desks across OTC interest-rate derivatives, Bonds and hybrid products.

Primary Responsibilities

This role directly supports the NY Interest Rate Sales desk. The role includes trade booking & processing for interest rate swaps, swaptions and cash trades as well as identifying amendments with the trading desk, resolving disputes with downstream operational teams and systems, and liaising with trade settlement and confirmation teams when needed. Candidate will work very closely with the team in NY and must be able to work in NY market hours. The candidate should be a clear communicator who works well under time pressure, can manage multiple priorities and is comfortable raising issues for escalation.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidate must have previous experience in a sales or trading support role for Interest Rate Derivatives. Experience required in OTC Derivative trade capture and trade booking. Familiarity with Derivatives settlements, confirmations or OTC clearing, DTCC or Markitwire is a plus.

Skills required:

  • Extremely diligent with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle stress and pressure of fast markets
  • Must be self-motivated, confident and possess excellent communication skills
  • Established understanding of derivative product mechanics
  • Excel / VBA for spreadsheet analysis work
