As a Supervisor (Welder) in our Royal Navy Support AESAS (Aircraft Engineering Support and Airfield Services) team, you’ll play a vital role in supporting aircraft operations through the delivery of specialist welding, fabrication, repair and modification services. You’ll lead and develop a team while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with strict airworthiness and regulatory standards.
Working in a highly regulated military aviation environment, your expertise will help keep critical aircraft and engineering equipment available for operational use. Your leadership, technical knowledge and commitment to quality will have a positive impact on mission success, supporting the Royal Navy and helping us create impactful solutions for the future.
Extensive experience in welding, fabrication, repair and modification of aircraft or aviation engineering components, ideally within a military aviation environment. Strong knowledge of welding and joining techniques including TIG (GTAW), MIG (GMAW), MMA, oxy-gas and spot welding. Experience working with a range of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, titanium, aluminium and nickel alloys. Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop teams while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and compliance. Strong communication, decision-making and organisational skills, with the ability to build trust and deliver through others.
Our employee networks support connection by providing spaces for collaboration, learning, and belonging. They represent and empower all our colleagues including veterans, LGBTQIA+ employees, women, parents and carers, people with disabilities, and people from all cultural backgrounds.
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, you will need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
