Description Following the acquisition of Virgin Money, Nationwide is on a bold journey to build a credible, relationship-led Business Bank, combining strong customer advocacy, deep sector and local knowledge, sustainable growth and disciplined risk management aligned to the benefits of being a modern mutual. We now have a unique opportunity for an experienced Senior Business Manager to join our Business Banking Products leadership team. Reporting directly to the Director of Business Banking Products, this role sits at the centre of one of Nationwide's most exciting growth agendas, helping to shape and coordinate the future direction of our Business Banking proposition.
Operating across a broad product portfolio, you’ll provide strategic support to the Director whilst bringing together product planning, portfolio governance, performance reporting, market insight and business management activity across multiple product disciplines. Working closely with Product Heads and senior stakeholders across the organisation, you'll help ensure the Business Banking Products function remains aligned, informed and focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for customers and colleagues. You'll be the key point of coordination across the Product leadership team, helping to connect strategy, execution and governance while providing the insight, structure and oversight needed to support effective decision making. This is a role for someone who enjoys operating at pace, managing complexity and influencing across a wide range of stakeholders without direct ownership of every outcome.
What you'll be doing
About you
You'll bring significant experience from a Business Banking, Product Management, Strategy or Business Management environment, with a strong understanding of product development and product lifecycle management, with the ability to support the evolution of customer propositions and drive alignment between strategic objectives, commercial priorities and delivery outcomes. Comfortable operating in a complex, matrix environment, you'll have experience leading portfolio, programme and project management activity across multiple stakeholders, bringing clarity, pace and focus to competing priorities.
You'll be adept at business analysis and requirements gathering, using sound judgement and insight to identify opportunities, solve problems and inform decision making at both a strategic and operational level. You'll combine strong financial and commercial awareness with highly developed analytical skills, using data analysis, performance metrics and management information reporting to provide meaningful insight, challenge thinking and support effective prioritisation. You'll be comfortable interpreting complex information and translating it into clear recommendations for senior audiences, helping to shape discussions and influence outcomes.
You'll also bring a strong understanding of regulatory and risk management principles within a financial services environment, ensuring customer, conduct and governance considerations are appropriately reflected in decision making. Experience of customer journey mapping and process design will enable you to identify opportunities to improve customer experiences, simplify processes and enhance the effectiveness of the overall proposition.
We're looking for someone who can see the bigger picture whilst maintaining a sharp focus on delivery, governance and outcomes. You'll have experience supporting change management and implementation activity, helping teams successfully navigate transformation, embed new ways of working and deliver sustainable business improvements. More broadly, you'll be a credible, commercially minded and collaborative professional who is comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and working across Product, Commercial, Risk, Finance, Operations and Technology. You'll bring intellectual curiosity, sound judgement and the confidence to provide constructive challenge, helping ensure the Business Banking Products function remains aligned, informed and well-positioned to deliver its strategic ambitions.
