About Everest
Everest is a global leader in risk management, rooted in a 50+ year heritage of enabling businesses to survive and thrive, and economies to function and flourish.
We are underwriters of risk, growth, progress and opportunity. Our global team is focused on disciplined decision-making, long-term value creation and delivering for our clients, colleagues and communities around the world.
The opportunity
Everest is looking for an experienced Global Claims Vendor Governance Director to lead and continue to develop the governance of our claims vendor ecosystem across our global insurance operations.
This is a senior, highly visible role with the opportunity to shape how Everest manages and oversees the third parties that play a critical role in delivering claims services to our customers around the world.
Reporting into Claims leadership, you will take ownership of the global Claims Vendor Management governance framework, working across the full vendor lifecycle, from strategy, sourcing and due diligence through onboarding, performance management, resilience, recertification and exit.
The role will work extensively across Claims, Operations, Risk & Compliance, Legal, Finance, Technology and Internal Audit, bringing these groups together to ensure our approach is consistent, risk-based, commercially effective and capable of meeting evolving regulatory expectations across multiple jurisdictions.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of claims, third-party risk, governance and transformation. You will not simply maintain an existing framework. You will help evolve it, challenge where improvements are required and ensure Everest has the data, controls and insight needed to manage its claims vendor relationships effectively as the organisation continues to grow.
What you'll be doing
- Shape our global claims vendor strategy and governance
- Own and continue to develop the Global Claims Vendor Management governance framework, policies, standards and operating model.
- Establish clear ownership, accountability, governance forums and escalation pathways across the vendor lifecycle.
- Assess the maturity of the control environment and translate findings into a clear, prioritised improvement roadmap.
- Monitor regulatory and market developments and ensure the framework evolves appropriately.
- Develop practical guidance and training that enables colleagues to understand and consistently deliver their responsibilities.
Strengthen third-party risk and onboarding
- Oversee consistent risk and materiality assessment across claims vendor arrangements.
- Coordinate risk-based due diligence across areas including financial stability, regulatory compliance, financial crime, information security, data protection, operational capability and business continuity.
- Ensure material risk acceptances, exceptions and mitigating actions are appropriately documented, approved and tracked.
- Govern vendor onboarding, ensuring the appropriate contracts, approvals, operating protocols, data and reporting arrangements are in place before activation.
- Maintain oversight of material subcontracting and fourth-party dependencies.
Drive performance, assurance and continuous improvement
- Establish a clear performance framework for material and critical vendors, incorporating service, quality, cost, customer outcomes and risk.
- Develop meaningful executive-level management information that enables effective decision-making and challenge.
- Partner with Claims Quality Assurance and Claims Operations to develop the vendor assurance and audit programme.
- Oversee annual vendor recertification and ensure material findings result in effective remediation and follow-through.
- Challenge performance where expectations are not being met and ensure appropriate action is taken, from enhanced monitoring and remediation through to renewal challenge or exit.
Build resilience into our vendor relationships
- Partner with Claims Operations, Risk, Legal and vendor partners to develop credible business continuity, contingency and exit arrangements.
- Ensure critical relationships have appropriate plans covering alternative providers, internal fallback, customer continuity, knowledge transfer, data migration and transition.
- Coordinate scenario testing and ensure lessons learned translate into demonstrable improvements.
Use data and technology to improve decision-making
- Develop clear operational, executive and board-level insight into the vendor population, including materiality, performance, risk, issues, spend, panel utilisation, recertification and resilience.
- Identify opportunities to improve the use of data, analytics and technology across vendor governance.
- Support appropriate governance around vendors' use of AI, automation and decision-making technologies within the claims environment.
Influence and lead across Everest
- Act as a senior subject-matter expert and trusted adviser on claims vendor governance, outsourcing and third-party risk.
- Build strong relationships across Claims and Everest's wider control functions, providing constructive challenge where necessary.
- Lead cross-functional improvement, regulatory and remediation programmes.
- Translate complex regulatory and control requirements into practical solutions the business can implement effectively.
- Build capability through coaching, knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement.
What we're looking for
We are looking for someone who combines deep third-party governance expertise with commercial judgement and the ability to influence at senior level.
You will ideally bring:
- Significant experience across claims vendor management, third-party risk, outsourcing governance, procurement, operational risk or a related insurance control environment.
- Strong experience across the vendor lifecycle, including risk assessment, due diligence, sourcing, contracting, onboarding, performance management, remediation and exit.
- A good understanding of outsourced and delegated claims operating models, including TPAs, independent adjusters, legal services and specialist claims providers.
- Experience designing or operating governance frameworks, control environments, RACI models, policy frameworks and executive reporting.
- The ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into pragmatic, proportionate controls.
- Strong analytical capability and experience using management information, dashboards and trend analysis to support decision-making.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with the confidence to provide constructive challenge to senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional change within a global or matrixed organisation.
- A collaborative leadership style combined with strong ownership and execution discipline.
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Lloyd's and the London Market, delegated authority and claims oversight.
- International insurance operations across the UK, Ireland, Continental Europe, North America, LATAM or APAC.
- Claims management platforms, vendor workflow technology and reporting solutions such as Power BI.
- Supporting regulatory reviews, Internal Audit, SOX controls or operational resilience programmes.
- Professional qualifications such as ACII, MCIPS, IRM, or relevant legal, risk, procurement or audit qualifications.
The person
Success in this role will require someone who can see both the detail and the bigger picture.
You will be comfortable navigating complex governance and regulatory environments, but equally able to build relationships, influence decisions and find pragmatic solutions. You will bring a strong control mindset without losing sight of commercial realities or the ultimate customer outcome.
Above all, we are looking for someone who can bring together multiple stakeholders around a common framework and help Everest continue to raise the standard of how we select, manage and partner with claims vendors globally.
Regulatory environment
The role operates across a broad and evolving international regulatory landscape. You will be expected to maintain appropriate working knowledge of relevant third-party risk, outsourcing, operational resilience, conduct and data requirements across the jurisdictions in which Everest operates, working closely with Legal, Risk and Compliance to interpret and implement applicable requirements.
This may include requirements and supervisory expectations from bodies such as the PRA, FCA, Central Bank of Ireland, Lloyd's, APRA and MAS, together with applicable EU operational resilience and data requirements.
