The Construction Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day planning, coordination and delivery of construction activities, ensuring works are carried out safely, to the required quality, programme and commercial expectations. The role will act as the key point of control on site between the project team, subcontractors, supply chain and client representatives ensuring works are properly planned, risks and constraints are identified early, and the required information, resources, permits and approvals are in place to support successful delivery.
The Construction Manager will provide clear on-site leadership and ownership of works from mobilisation through to installation, handover and close out, ensuring progress is actively managed, issues are escalated where required, and delivery is aligned with the wider project requirements.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities
- Ensuring that robust Health and Safety systems and procedures are set out, adopted and adhered to at all times for relevant site activities
- Drive high levels of productivity through the management and control of installation norms
- Implement LFE and CI methodology in all undertakings
- Liaise with design and commissioning teams, ensuring effective construction methods take consideration of these tasks.
- Engagement with project teams, quality team and planners to ensure robust construction plans are identified from the outset of all projects
- Continual reviewing of our site teams in terms of progress, abilities and quality of supervision
- Understanding of all the different trade agreements, allowances, expenses, bonus and lodging allowances for hourly paid labour
- Determine labour requirements to deliver the project efficiently.
- Ensure we have a robust and fully SQEP’d workforce
- Resource loading activities to enable the controlling of costs and hours
- Oversee look aheads to manage the workload and resources
Show your expertise
- Confident in workface planning, productivity control, and programme alignment; able to maintain schedule under pressure and constraint
- Competence in rolling out management systems, embedding standard processes, training site teams, and running assurance checks; evidence of IMS delivery
- Strong understanding of national agreements (NAECI, BESA) and IR relations with trade unions
- Digital field management experience (Dalux or equivalent); comfort with evidence-based reporting and data discipline
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and component traceability
Desirable
- Formal qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline
- Experience on highly regulated infrastructure projects (rail, defence, pharmaceuticals)
- NEC contract awareness and change/compensation event evidence discipline
- Experience with DfMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) integration and off-site manufacturing principles
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork installation practices, and system commissioning
