We offer an attractive compensation package (please refer to the Terms and Conditions section of this vacancy announcement).
The Pacific region comprises 14 Small Island Developing States (SIDS) covered by the World Food Programme (WFP) Pacific Multi-Country Office, which face some of the highest levels of disaster risk globally due to recurrent natural hazards and the increasing impact of climate change. These contextual factors shape the operating environment for emergency preparedness and response, particularly in relation to connectivity and communications.
WFP’s engagement in the Pacific focuses on strengthening national and regional capacities for emergency preparedness and response (EPR), including in logistics, emergency telecommunications, disaster risk management, adaptive social protection, anticipatory action and food security, with an emphasis on supporting government-led systems to better support the most at-risk populations.
As WFP scales up its operations across the Pacific region under the US MACRO Grant award, including the expansion of its current Multi-Country Office in Suva, Fiji, and the expansion of its country presence, the Information Technology function plays a critical role in ensuring that staff are supported by reliable and secure IT services. This growth requires strengthened oversight of IT infrastructure, service delivery, cybersecurity, business continuity, and the implementation of corporate technology standards, while ensuring operational readiness to support both development and emergency response activities.
Under the supervision of the Head of TEC and Pacific ETC Coordinator and in close collaboration with functional units across the Pacific Multi-Country Office, the IT Operations Officer will support the planning, coordination, and oversight of IT activities associated with WFP's expansion. The incumbent will contribute to the effective management of IT operations, support the supervision and capacity development of the IT Operations Associate and IT Operations Assistant, and ensure the delivery of high-quality technology services. The role will also support the implementation of corporate IT initiatives, strengthen governance and compliance with WFP standards, and enhance organizational resilience through improved connectivity, infrastructure management, and user support, enabling WFP to effectively deliver its mandate across the Pacific.
