Application support engineer

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance the firm's internal business applications and reporting solutions, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable information to support daily operations and business decision-making and act as bridge between business requirements and technical solutions by translating user needs into applications, database logic, and reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain business applications using C# and .NET to ensure reliable and efficient systems that support business operations.
• Gather and analyze business requirements from non-technical users to translate operational needs into clear technical specifications and practical solutions.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views to ensure data accuracy and improve database performance.
• Design, develop, and deploy SSRS reports including parameterized reports, sub-reports, drill-through reports, subscriptions, and scheduled reports to provide timely and accurate business information.
• Develop and maintain SAP Crystal Reports including formulas, grouping, suppression logic, and integration with .NET applications to support operational and client-facing reporting requirements.
• Develop and maintain data access layers using ADO.NET and/or Entity Framework to ensure secure and efficient interaction between applications and databases.
• Monitor and troubleshoot application and database performance by identifying and resolving technical issues and performance bottlenecks to minimize operational disruption.
• Manage application source code and deployment activities using Git, Azure DevOps, or TFS to ensure controlled development, versioning, code review, and reliable releases.
• Maintain technical documentation for applications, reports, databases, and procedures to ensure knowledge continuity and ease of maintenance.
• Collaborate with Business, Operations, IT Infrastructure, and other stakeholders to deliver technology solutions aligned with business requirements and reporting deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in developing and maintaining business applications and reporting solutions.
• Proven experience with C# and .NET Framework 4.7.2+ / .NET 6 or 8.
• Experience developing applications using ASP.NET MVC/Web API, WinForms, and/or WPF.
• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server and database development.
• Hands-on experience with SSRS and SAP Crystal Reports.
• Experience with ADO.NET and/or Entity Framework.

• Programming languages: C# primary development language, T-SQL / PL-SQL stored procedures, functions, views, query tuning, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS for web-based front ends, XML / JSON configuration, data exchange, report definitions.
• Frameworks and platforms: .NET Framework 4.7.2+ and .NET 6/8, ASP.NET (MVC / Web API) and/or WinForms or WPF, depending on the application estate, ADO.NET and Entity Framework for data access, Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or later.
• Reporting tools: SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) report design, parameters, sub reports, subscriptions, deployment, SAP Crystal Reports — report design, formula logic, .NET runtime integration, SSIS or equivalent ETL tooling (advantage), Excel automation or Power BI exposure (advantage).
• Tools and practices: Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio Code, Git or Azure DevOps / TFS for version control, Understanding of relational database design, normalization, and indexing, Basic IIS configuration and application deployment, Debugging, profiling, and performance troubleshooting across application and database layers.
