Role purpose

The Senior Manager Fixed & Home Segment leads the strategy, development, and commercial execution of Vodacom Congo’s fixed broadband and home connectivity offerings, including Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH), Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), and router solutions. Reporting to the Head of Products & Segments, this role ensures robust portfolio management, pricing strategy, promotional excellence, and cross-functional alignment to drive subscriber growth, revenue, and customer satisfaction across residential and SOHO markets.

Key Responsibilities

A. Strategic Portfolio Management

  • Define and execute the FTTH and FWA product roadmap, including tiered service packages (Basic, Standard, Premium) and value-added bundles.
  • Develop multi-year growth plans aligned with network expansion targets, ensuring geographical coverage.
  • Lead lifecycle management: new product launches, performance reviews, portfolio rationalization, and end-of-life decisions.

B. Pricing & Commercial Strategy

  • Formulate pricing frameworks based on cost-to-serve, competitive benchmarks, and customer willingness-to-pay, ensuring margin optimization.
  • Design promotional strategies (e.g., installation incentives, bundled device offers, loyalty rewards) in collaboration with Marketing and Loyalty teams.
  • Oversee commercial negotiations with equipment suppliers, installation partners, and value-added service providers (e.g., streaming, security solutions).

C. Performance Monitoring & Analytics

  • Establish and track KPIs: subscriber net additions, ARPU, churn, installation lead times, average throughput, and NPS.
  • Drive use of analytics platforms to segment the customer base, identify upsell opportunities, and forecast demand.
  • Prepare and present monthly and quarterly business reviews, highlighting performance trends, risks, and opportunities.

D. Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Network Planning & Engineering to align product offerings with infrastructure capabilities, rollout schedules, and SLA requirements.
  • Collaborate with Sales & Distribution to ensure effective training, merchandising, and go-to-market readiness for home connectivity solutions.
  • Work with Customer Operations to streamline installation processes, set-up support, and escalations management for premium customers.
  • Engage with Finance & Revenue Assurance for P&L ownership, ROI analysis, and cost control measures.
  • Liaise with Regulatory & Legal to ensure compliance with licensing, regional service obligations, and consumer protection regulations.

Autonomy and Decision-Making

Without Prior Approval:

  • Propose and pilot tactical promotions and upsell campaigns.
  • Adjust service parameters (e.g., bandwidth tiers, trial offers) within approved guidelines.
  • Approve routine supplier or partner requests within budgetary limits.

With Prior Approval:

  • Launch major portfolio changes (e.g., new package tiers, regional expansions).
  • Finalize strategic supplier contracts and large-scale installation incentives.
  • Set annual revenue and subscriber growth targets in collaboration with Head of Products & Segments.

Scope of Responsibility

Direct Reports: 1 Fixed & Home Segment Specialists.
Budget Ownership: Responsible for fixed segment P&L, promotional spend, and incentive programs.
Assets: Accountable for CRM, billing, provisioning systems, analytics platforms, and installation partner networks.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Risks: Screen time; occasional on-site visits to network and installation sites; flexibility during campaign periods.
Environment: Office-based with cross-departmental collaboration; may require travel to regional offices.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00; flexibility for urgent launches or project milestones.

Required Profile

Education & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Telecommunications, Engineering, or related field; master’s preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in strategic planning, financial modelling, and data analytics (Excel, BI tools).
  • In-depth knowledge of fixed broadband technologies (FTTH, FWA), home networking, and customer experience management.

Experience:

  • 8+ years in product management or commercial roles within telecom or technology sectors, with at least 3 years in fixed broadband.
  • Demonstrated track record in managing fixed service portfolios, driving subscriber growth, and achieving financial targets.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing key stakeholder relationships.
