JOB PURPOSE
To support the origination, structuring and execution of investment banking transactions for EDC Investment Corporation’s corporate, financial institution and public sector clients across the UEMOA region, including mergers & acquisitions, equity capital markets, and strategic advisory transactions for the assigned hub.
The Analyst is responsible for the analytical foundation of every transaction, including financial analysis, modelling, valuation and research, as well as the accuracy and presentation quality of the supporting materials produced by the team, including inter alia:
- To assist private and public companies in their external growth operations (sale and/or acquisition of companies, equity investments, joint ventures etc.)
- To advise top management or decision-makers (managers, shareholders, etc.) in the context of the mobilization of equity or quasi-equity resources through complex transactions
- To supporting the mobilization of equity, quasi-equity and debt resources for clients through public and private transactions
- To assist various clients on M&A and capital markets-related financial issues
JOB CONTEXT
- Work in the execution team on corporate finance and investment banking transactions
- The incumbent is frequently requested to provide financial reliable information and analysis
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare pitch books, proposals, term sheets, mandate letters, memorandums, teasers and marketing materials
- Assist the Coverage bankers in marketing as and when required
- Undertake advanced financial analysis and modelling using Excel or other tools, where required
- Assist in due diligence and execution of transactions
- Assist and support in transaction structuring
- Develop a knowledge of specific sectors over time
- Developing relationships with clients including gaining a good knowledge of the client's businesses, economic drivers, market and sector requirements to ensure advice is relevant and commercial
- Source, establish market inference and interpret market data/information using valuation methodologies
- Drafting of valuation reports and other commercial documents.
CONNAISSANCES, COMPETENCES & EXPERIENCE
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics or a related quantitative discipline, with a strong academic record
- Minimum experience of 3-5 years in investment banking, transaction advisory, corporate finance, private equity, infrastructure or project finance, or Big Four transaction services / valuation
- Progress towards CFA, ACCA, CIIA, DSCG or an equivalent professional qualification is an advantage
Skills, Capabilities & Attributes
- Fluency in French is essential (written and oral)
- Strong professional English is essential

- Strong financial analysis and modelling skills
- Recognition for your expertise in Excel (notions of VBA are a plus) and interest in going further in the use of Excel resources and in acquiring best practices for its application to financial modelling and valuation

- Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving skills
- Understanding of the basic principles of investment banking, finance and accounting
- Master Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to work in a team
