Sourcing engineer (mechanical / contract manufacturing)

To complement our team, we are looking for a customer- and team-oriented individual for our Industrial X-Ray Systems division at the Shanghai site as a Sourcing Engineer (Mechanical / Contract Manufacturing).

As part of the Industrial X-Ray Systems (IXS) division, our Comet Yxlon brand delivers advanced industrial X-ray and CT solutions for reliable non-destructive testing, analysis and quality assurance in semiconductor, electronics, automotive and other high-tech industries.

What you will do:

The role builds and owns the Asia supply base for the mechanical content of the Cougar and Cheetah X-ray inspection products — machined parts, sheet metal and fabrications, weldments, castings, structures and covers, precision mechanical assemblies — and for contract-manufactured modules where whole sub-assemblies are outsourced.

• Make the technical judgement on whether an alternative works, not only the commercial judgement on what it costs.
• Technical evaluation and adaptation of alternatives, Supplier and contract-manufacturer capability assessment, AVL RFQ, cost analysis and negotiation, First Article Inspection, qualification and quality.
• Supply resilience, build support and reporting, Documentation and knowledge capture.

What you bring:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Materials Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline. An engineering degree is required; a procurement or supply chain qualification is welcome in addition, not instead.

Minimum 5 years of combined experience spanning engineering and sourcing, with demonstrable time in a hands-on engineering or manufacturing role before or alongside the sourcing responsibility.

Strong, demonstrable GD&T competence — able to read, interpret and challenge a tolerancing scheme, and to judge whether a supplier's measurement evidence actually demonstrates conformance.

Sound practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and their realistic capability: machining, sheet metal, fabrication and welding, casting, and surface treatment.

Demonstrated First Article Inspection experience, including review of dimensional reports and resolution of dimensional non-conformance.
