Sourcing engineer (electromechanical)

To complement our team, we are looking for a customer- and team-oriented individual for our Industrial X-Ray Systems division at the Shanghai site as a Sourcing Engineer (Electromechanical).

As part of the Industrial X-Ray Systems (IXS) division, our Comet Yxlon brand delivers advanced industrial X-ray and CT solutions for reliable non-destructive testing, analysis and quality assurance in semiconductor, electronics, automotive and other high-tech industries.

What you will do:

The role builds and owns the Asia supply base for the electromechanical and electronic content of the Cougar and Cheetah (“CC”) X-ray inspection products — motors and drives, encoders and sensors, power supplies, cabling and harnesses, connectors, PCB assemblies, control and electrical modules, and related sub-assemblies. The role is expected to make the technical judgement on whether an alternative works, not only the commercial judgement on what it costs.

• Technical evaluation and adaptation of alternatives — approx.
• Supplier identification, capability assessment and AVL — approx.
• RFQ, cost analysis and negotiation — approx.
• Qualification, validation and quality — approx.
• Supply resilience, build support and reporting — approx.
• Documentation and knowledge capture — approx.

What you bring:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline. An engineering degree is required; a procurement or supply chain qualification is welcome in addition, not instead.

Minimum 5 years of combined experience spanning engineering and sourcing, with demonstrable time in a hands-on engineering role before or alongside the sourcing responsibility.

Demonstrated ability to evaluate electromechanical and electronic components technically — to read a datasheet critically, perform a supporting calculation, and design a comparative test.

Influencing effectively across all levels and teams in the organization, as well as externally — the role must carry a technical position with suppliers and a commercial position with the design team.
