The opportunity

Mott MacDonald is seeking an influential and collaborative Transport Market Leader to drive the continued growth of our South Australian Transport business.

This is an opportunity to lead a high-performing team, shape our market strategy, strengthen client relationships, and position Mott MacDonald for success across the transport sector. Working closely with national and regional leaders, you'll champion growth, foster technical excellence, and help deliver some of South Australia's most significant transport infrastructure projects. As a key member of our leadership team, you'll play a pivotal role in expanding our presence across Roads & Highways, Rail, Bridges, Tunnels and Transport Planning, while contributing to the broader success of our Australian and global Transport business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary transport team, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion and high performance.
  • Drive client engagement, market positioning and business growth across South Australia.
  • Develop and strengthen strategic relationships with key clients, industry partners and contractors.
  • Lead major pursuits and work-winning activities, converting opportunities into successful project outcomes.
  • Provide strong commercial and project governance oversight, ensuring quality, risk management and performance excellence.
  • Collaborate across the global Mott MacDonald network to share knowledge, build capability and support major transport initiatives.

About You:

You will have both a personal and professional passion for Transport Engineering with an excellent track record at in delivering projects in a commercial/consultancy environment. We welcome applications from those demonstrating:

  • A leader with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style, who has a passion for mentoring, empowering others, and fostering team growth; motivating people to be curious; leading through uncertainty and doubt; creating new value propositions; and casting a compelling vision of the future which motivates and retains great people.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Degree in a relevant Engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated success in winning and delivering transport infrastructure projects, ideally across Roads & Highways, Rail or related sectors.
  • Significant experience within the Australian transport infrastructure sector, particularly across the South Australian market and agencies such as the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT).
  • An established network of senior client, contractor and industry relationships, with a strong reputation in the market.
  • Mentored and guided staff to upskill and develop professionally.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate across all levels internally and externally.
