Job Description

Cloud FinOps Analyst

Cape Town | Hybrid | Contract

This role will support proactive AWS FinOps and cloud financial management, improving cost visibility, forecasting, allocation, governance, optimisation and accountability.

How you will contribute:

  • Analyse and report on AWS cloud spend, consumption, trends, variances, anomalies and cost drivers across accounts, workloads, applications and environments.
  • Support cloud budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and cost impact assessments, including migration, architecture and workload changes.
  • Manage AWS cost allocation and tagging, improving attribution of spend to applications, owners, business units, projects and cost centres.
  • Identify and support AWS cost optimisation, including rightsizing, underutilised resources, non-production scheduling, storage, networking, backup and managed services.
  • Analyse Savings Plans, Reserved Instances and Spot usage, monitoring commitments and supporting commercial optimisation decisions.
  • Support FinOps governance, including budgets, alerts, anomaly detection, cost exceptions, policies and cost-aware cloud operations.
  • Partner with Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Architecture and Business/Application teams to drive cost accountability and informed decisions.
  • Use AWS cost management and reporting tools for analysis and reporting.

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in IT, Finance, Business, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing or related field.
  • Substantial experience in FinOps, cloud cost management, cloud operations, IT infrastructure, IT finance, TBM or related analytics.
  • Practical AWS cloud and billing/cost management experience.
  • Strong understanding of cloud pricing, cost allocation, tagging, budgeting, forecasting and optimisation.
  • Experience with AWS cost reporting and data analysis, including Power BI, Excel, SQL or similar.
  • Understanding of AWS cost drivers across compute, storage, databases, networking, backup and managed services.
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • FinOps/AWS certification advantageous.
