Job Title: Senior Mechanical Integrity Engineer - Stress Lead

Working Pattern: Full Time

Working location: Novi, MI/Hybrid - 2 Office Days/Week

Relocation assistance will be provided if applicable.

As a Stress Lead on the Novi team, you will provide a significant depth of expertise and leadership for stress and dynamics analysis across the engine components. This expertise will be utilized in support of component design changes and component verification activity. You will lead the Stress Team, guiding methods, priorities, audit & oversight, and meeting program requirements. Will also present directly to customers regarding analysis requirements, methods, and results.

The Stress Lead will also be a focal point for mentoring the design team and consulting with the wider program team on stress and dynamics related technical issues. This role will remain engaged with the ET&S Engineering team by mentoring junior analysts, serving as a SLARP/DTARP auditor across programs, and advancing the structural analyst skillset.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead and perform advanced mechanical integrity, stress, and lifing assessments using finite element analysis and other numerical modeling techniques.
  • Mentor and train junior analysts, providing technical guidance and fostering professional development within the team.
  • Conduct peer reviews of analysis projects, ensuring high standards of technical quality and rigor.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for mechanical integrity matters, facilitating effective communication and collaboration with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders, clearly communicating complex analysis results and recommendations.
  • Actively participate in the global engineering community, sharing subject matter expertise and best practices across the organization.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, driving enhancements to tools, processes, and methods both within the team and across the wider function.

Basic Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of Stress Analysis experience OR
  • A Master’s Degree in Engineering with 3+ years of Stress Analysis experience OR
  • JD/Ph.D. in Engineering

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen

Preferred:

  • 8 or more years of hands-on experience in conducting mechanical integrity, stress and lifing assessments using finite element analysis and other numerical models on gas turbine components
  • Ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and make balanced decisions across technical and business parameters
  • Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and certification frameworks
  • Membership of a relevant professional body appropriate to region
  • Strong communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organization
