This role is dedicated to analyzing cyber threats through the lens of specific industry sectors, delivering context-rich threat intelligence that aligns technical findings with sector technologies, processes, regulations, and business impact.
The analyst translates complex technical intelligence—including eCrime and APT activity—into actionable security and risk insights, sector-relevant risk narratives, and executive-aligned guidance, empowering customers to make informed decisions for their industry environment. They own the end-to-end creation of industry-focused threat intelligence reports, synthesizing internal telemetry, finished intelligence, and OSINT to provide comprehensive, sector-specific assessments.
ESET Research is a team of 30+ researchers all over the world who analyze complex cyber-espionage and cybercrime operations. We work in collaboration with other internal teams to improve ESET products and create resilient malware detections.
Our primary goal is to understand how threat groups operate in order to better protect our customers and disrupt malicious activities. We write private reports that are available to ESET Threat Intelligence customers.
We share our knowledge publicly on ESET’s blog, https://www.welivesecurity.com/research/, and at technical conferences all around the world (Virus Bulletin, Black Hat, RSA, Botconf, etc.).
Identify, track and document APT and eCrime actors that are relevant and active in the given sectors. Analyze cyber threats, attacker behavior, campaigns, and trends as they specifically impact these sectors.
Assess vulnerabilities, technologies, and architectures commonly used in the sector and their exposure to current threats.
Continuously monitor OSINT sources, including:
Collaborate closely with in-house Threat Intelligence teams to understand current technical findings, campaigns, and telemetry-based observations.
Work with strategic/geopolitical analysts to integrate broader context into sector threat assessments.
Produce regular industry-focused intelligence reports combining curated and contextualized OSINT in addition to our proprietary intelligence, derived from ESET telemetry and internal research.
Move beyond isolated cases by identifying, documenting, and explaining sector-specific trends and patterns.
Clearly articulate operational and business impact relevant to the industry audience.
Act as a subject-matter expert for internal teams, including sales, customer success, and marketing, providing sector-specific threat context. Serve as a bridge between technical Threat Intelligence analysts and customer-facing or business teams. Support sector-specific positioning of Threat Intelligence offerings.
