About the Job

You'll be responsible for ensuring the integrity of Levi Strauss Europe's inventory across our Distribution Centres and Direct-to-Consumer locations. As the bridge between Operations, Systems and Finance, you'll ensure inventory movements are accurately recorded, controlled and reflected across our operational and financial systems.

In a business with complex inventory flows and multiple technology platforms, you'll establish robust controls, investigate and resolve issues, and drive continuous improvements that strengthen inventory governance, improve accuracy and support informed business decision-making.

A core focus of the role is investigating, resolving, and preventing inventory discrepancies, particularly those arising from inventory adjustments, IDoc/interface failures, stock duplication, STOs, returns, cycle counts, and system transitions (e.g. Dorsten DC go‑live and stabilisation).

Key responsibilities:

  • Inventory Adjustments Governance & Resolution
    • Govern material inventory adjustments, ensuring appropriate controls, root cause resolution and accounting treatment.
    • Challenge and resolve significant inventory discrepancies, driving sustainable improvements and preventing recurrence.
    • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of inventory balances across operational and financial systems.
    • Act as the point of accountability for resolving aged or unexplained inventory adjustment balances.
  • WMS-SAP Alignment & Interface Management
    • Ensure accurate alignment of inventory data between WMS and SAP, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
    • Partner with Inventory Management and IT teams to resolve interface and IDoc issues.
    • Strengthen controls and processes to improve system stability and prevent recurring inventory issues.
  • Inventory Movements & Returns
    • Ensure the accurate accounting, reconciliation and reporting of inventory movements, returns and in-transit stock.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, maintaining accurate inventory balances across operational and financial systems.
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen controls, improve processes and prevent recurring issues.
  • Inventory Valuation & Controls
    • Partner with Finance teams to ensure inventory balances, valuations and reserves are accurate, complete and supported by reliable inventory data.
    • Monitor inventory risks and identify operational issues that may impact inventory accuracy, valuation or financial reporting.
    • Drive corrective actions with cross-functional teams to improve inventory controls and strengthen data integrity.
  • Financial Close, Audit & SOX Compliance
    • Lead inventory controllership activities during month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Oversee inventory count programmes and reconciliations, maintaining the accuracy and integrity of inventory records.
    • Prepare audit-ready analysis and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
    • Drive compliance with SOX requirements and inventory control frameworks, ensuring controls are consistently documented, executed and monitored.

About You

Qualifications / Experience

  • Qualified accountant with a recognised professional accounting qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in both inventory accounting and inventory controllership within a retail, consumer goods, e-commerce or distribution-led environment.

Technical / Functional

  • Strong inventory accounting background (US GAAP), including adjustments, reserves, in‑transit, and cost flows.
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP (AFS/S4), WMS environments, and interface troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret operational data (cycle counts, WMS reports) and translate into accounting outcomes.
  • Experience supporting audit and SOX requirements for inventory‑intensive operations.

Behavioural / Leadership

  • High ownership mindset: able to drive issues to closure across multiple teams and geographies.
  • Comfortable challenging operations, IT, and accounting peers with data‑backed arguments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, particularly in explaining complex inventory issues simply.
  • Proactive in identifying systemic risks and pushing for process and control improvements.
