We are seeking a BAS Intermediate/Senior Accountant to join our team in Auckland. This role is ideally suited to an accounting professional with experience in Business Advisory Services or client accounting environments who enjoys working closely with clients.

As part of a collaborative and high-performing team, you will gain experience working with clients across a broad range of industries, supporting their financial reporting, compliance and business advisory needs. You will have the opportunity to build trusted client relationships, apply commercial thinking to complex situations and contribute to delivering practical solutions that help businesses grow and succeed.

Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities

As a BAS Accountant at EY, you will work closely with clients and colleagues to deliver high-quality accounting and tax services. You will play an important role in managing client relationships, supporting engagement delivery and contributing to the development of junior team members.

  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports and compliance deliverables for a diverse portfolio of businesses and individuals.
  • Prepare tax compliance work (including income tax, GST, PAYE and FBT)
  • Partner with clients to understand their commercial objectives and provide practical accounting, business and financial insights that support decision-making.
  • Support, coach and develop junior team members while contributing to a collaborative, inclusive and growth-focused team culture.

Ngā Pūkenga | Skills and attributes for success

We're looking for an experienced accounting professional who combines technical capability with a client-focused mindset and is looking for career growth. You will be motivated by building long-term relationships, delivering quality outcomes and contributing to the success of both clients and colleagues.

  • At least two years’ experience in Business Advisory or a similar accounting role
  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline, together with CA ANZ or CPA membership (or actively working toward completion of the membership).
  • Analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, along with proficiency in accounting and reporting tools such as Xero, MYOB, Excel or similar platforms.
  • Experience gained within Business Advisory Services, public practice accounting or a professional services environment, with solid financial reporting and compliance expertise.
