Job Description

Enable 50+ Mendix apps to scale securely and reliably by building compliant platform capabilities, modules, and integrations that help Rabobank development teams deliver faster and with confidence.

You & Your Role

Build and enhance the Mendix platform that powers Rabobank applications as a Senior Mendix Platform Engineer. You enable teams by creating reusable modules, automating pipelines, and bridging low code with enterprise infrastructure like Azure DevOps. You troubleshoot complex issues, collaborate with app teams, and ensure everything you build scales across dozens of applications, while continuously improving platform standards and developer experience. You communicate clearly, both in writing and when presenting, and you bring persistence and ownership to complex challenges across teams and systems.

• Automate Mendix deployments, so all applications automatically receive updated platform modules without manual effort.
• Diagnose and resolve design system issues by collaborating with consuming teams and tracing downstream impact across multiple applications.
• Build reusable components and integrations that reduce duplication and accelerate compliant and secure delivery across the Mendix landscape.

Top 3 Responsibilities

• Enable Mendix development teams by building, maintaining, and improving reusable modules, integrations, and platform services (using Mendix and adjacent technologies) used across many applications.
• Bridge low code development with enterprise infrastructure by developing pipelines, custom code, and automation in tools such as Mendix and Azure DevOps environments.
• Collaborate and communicate with product teams to analyse issues, improve platform capabilities, and ensure scalable, high-quality solutions that positively impact downstream applications.

This role sits within the Mendix Platform Team, supporting internal Rabobank teams in delivering and scaling Mendix applications efficiently and reliably.

The ~10 people of the Mendix Platform Team enable roughly 100 Rabobank Mendix developers and a wider community of over 300 colleagues, by providing a stable and scalable Mendix ecosystem. Collaboration is central to how we work; as one technical, solution-oriented platform team, we continuously improve our services and support each other in tackling complex challenges. We work in a hybrid setup, meeting in Utrecht at least one day per week.

You & Your Talent

• (Academic) university-level education specifically in IT including relevant certifications.
• Strong oral communication skills in Dutch & English; team language is English
• Strong writing and documentation skills, so you are able to create clear, reusable technical guidance for other teams
• Ability to present ideas, solutions, and platform improvements clearly, to different audiences (considered a strong advantage)
• Collaborative mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
• Technical skills: IT development background – e.g., Java, JavaScript, CSS, Widgets, React, DevOps / pipelines, Docker, AI, CI/CD, etc.
• Experience with web application development concepts (frontend/backend, APIs/REST)
• Mendix experience, including e.g. Menditect, QSM, Mendix SDK, Mendix CLI, or similar

You don’t need all of these technical skills, but at least some, in line with your experience.
