ABOUT THE POSITION
Head of Manufacturing Engineering & Maintenance at BURGA is a key engineering leadership role responsible for ensuring that our manufacturing equipment, technical processes, and engineering systems are reliable, scalable, and continuously improving. You will own the reliability and availability of the equipment park, lead the technical team, and build systems that prevent recurring technical problems rather than relying on firefighting.
Your role: this is built for someone who thinks in systems: someone who looks beyond individual breakdowns to understand why they happen, builds preventive and predictive maintenance practices, develops technical capabilities within the team, and creates a culture where problems are solved at their root.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Own the reliability, availability, and technical performance of the manufacturing equipment park, ensuring effective preventive maintenance, spare parts management, and continuous improvement
- Lead technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis, eliminating recurring equipment failures through structured problem-solving rather than firefighting
- Implement and continuously improve maintenance systems, including CMMS, preventive/predictive maintenance, equipment history, and reliability KPIs such as OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and availability
- Drive Continuous Improvement across manufacturing by implementing Lean practices such as 5S, Kaizen, SMED, Standard Work, and visual management, with clear measurement of results
- Identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities across the value stream and lead initiatives that improve equipment performance, efficiency, and manufacturing stability
- Lead and develop the technical team, including CI Engineering and Maintenance Technicians, through competency matrices, training, standards, and continuous capability development
- Own the OPEX and CAPEX budget for maintenance and technical projects, ensuring effective resource allocation and measurable business impact
- Lead CAPEX and engineering projects from identifying the need through technical specification, supplier coordination, implementation, commissioning, and handover
- Build a data-driven and standardized engineering culture through technical documentation, maintenance standards, structured training, and evidence-based decision-making
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years of leadership experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Engineering, or a related manufacturing function
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
- Strong practical understanding of equipment reliability, maintenance systems, and manufacturing engineering, including CMMS and KPIs such as OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and availability
- Hands-on knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and structured problem-solving methods, including 5S, Kaizen, SMED, Standard Work, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, 8D, and FMEA
- Good understanding of automation, pneumatics, and electrical systems; basic PLC knowledge is an advantage
- Proven experience managing CAPEX projects, OPEX/CAPEX budgets, and technical resources from planning through implementation
- Strong analytical and systems-thinking mindset, with the ability to use data to identify root causes, bottlenecks, and long-term improvement opportunities
- Experience developing technical teams, competency matrices, standards, documentation, and training systems
- Structured, calm, and independent approach, with a strong focus on long-term stability, prevention, and continuous improvement
- Fluent Lithuanian and good English (B2+), sufficient for technical documentation and supplier communication
