What you'll be doing:

  • Leading, supporting and motivating payroll colleagues to deliver a timely, accurate and high-quality payroll service.
  • Delivering training, mentoring and coaching to promote consistent ways of working, strong technical knowledge and excellent customer service.
  • Supporting the onboarding and development of new team members, carrying out regular one-to-one meetings and contributing to succession planning activities.
  • Monitoring team performance, identifying operational risks and supporting effective performance and development plans.
  • Driving continuous improvement through the implementation of efficient payroll and pension processes and supporting operational change.
  • Ensuring compliance with governance requirements, internal controls, audits, policies and confidentiality standards when handling sensitive personal information.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience leading, developing and supporting team performance, training and employee development.
  • Strong payroll knowledge, including legislation relating to tax and employee contributions.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with data protection requirements, internal controls and organisational policies.
  • Experience creating and delivering training materials and supporting colleagues with complex payroll processes.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high service standards.
  • The ability to build positive working relationships and provide effective coaching and support to colleagues.

It would be great if you had:

  • Knowledge of payroll terms and conditions within a healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with pension schemes and associated payroll processes.
  • Knowledge of governance, audit and compliance requirements within a regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting payroll system changes, enhancements or process implementation activities.
