We are looking for a Senior Risk Expert to shape how environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks are integrated into Nordea's credit risk framework and processes. The role is a permanent, full-time position based in Helsinki or Stockholm.

About our team

Meet the Risk Appetite and ESG Framework team within Credit Risk Framework, Group Credit Risk. Our role is to develop prudent, consistent and regulatory-compliant credit risk practices across Nordea.

Group Credit Risk is an independent second line of defence unit that safeguards and supports prudent credit risk management. Within Credit Risk Framework, we develop and maintain Nordea's Group-wide credit risk and Sustainability & ESG policy frameworks. We translate external regulation and supervisory expectations into common rules and processes, working closely with credit analysis, business areas and other Group functions across the first line of defence.

What you'll be doing

Main responsibilities in this role:

• Develop and maintain Nordea's credit risk framework for ESG-related risk drivers across corporate and retail credit assessment, collateral, customer rating and customer engagement processes.
• Lead guideline reviews, regulatory assessments and implementation projects with Credit Risk Framework colleagues and relevant first line of defence units.
• Translate regulation and supervisory expectations into clear, proportionate and operational credit risk requirements, guidance and training materials.
• Provide senior risk input and second line opinions for management, committees, regulatory implementation plans and supervisory interactions.
• Represent Credit Risk Framework in Nordea-wide initiatives, promote a consistent Group operating model and act as a subject-matter expert on ESG-related credit risk rules, processes and regulation.

Who you are

This is the right role for you if you are analytical, structured and solution-oriented, and can work independently in a developing regulatory area. You enjoy turning complex requirements into practical solutions, leading demanding assignments and communicating clear advice to senior stakeholders and subject-matter experts.

Your background and skills include:

• Relevant experience in credit risk management, risk control, regulatory implementation, audit, compliance, finance, economics or environmental risk management.
• Good knowledge of credit and ESG risk regulation, with a strong interest in sustainability-related financial risks and the associated regulatory framework.
• Proven ability to lead initiatives or projects and convert complex requirements into clear, workable processes and rules.
• Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to provide well-reasoned risk assessments and collaborate across a broad stakeholder group.
• A relevant university degree, or equivalent relevant experience, and fluent professional English.

It would be ideal if you also:

• Have experience in one or more of the following: corporate or retail credit assessment, collateral, customer ratings, risk appetite, climate or nature risk analysis, scenario analysis, business-model resilience, greenwashing risk, regulatory change or issue management.
• Have experience working with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders in a Nordic or Group-wide environment.
• Speak a Nordic language.
