What You’ll Be Part Of
As the Divisional Portfolio/PMO Lead, you will lead HARMAN’s Portfolio Management Office (PMO) for the division, providing strategic direction, governance, and operational leadership for a portfolio of Digital, AI, and technology initiatives. Reporting to the AX Lead, you will manage a team of Portfolio Managers and PMO professionals (3+ direct reports), while ensuring projects are prioritized, governed, and delivered in alignment with business strategy. You will be accountable for portfolio performance, resource planning, delivery governance, and continuous improvement of project management practices across the organization. Working closely with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and technology teams, you will drive operational excellence and enable successful execution of HARMAN’s strategic transformation initiatives.
Your Team
You will lead a team of Portfolio Managers and PMO professionals responsible for portfolio governance, project delivery oversight, reporting, and operational excellence across the Digital organization. You will establish team priorities, develop talent, allocate resources across strategic initiatives, and ensure consistent project management practices are adopted throughout the organization. In addition to leading your direct team, you will provide governance and operational leadership to project managers, delivery teams, and business stakeholders across the enterprise.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Portfolio Managers and PMO professionals, providing performance management, career development, and ongoing mentorship.
- Own the operational performance of the divisional PMO, ensuring successful execution of strategic Digital, AI, and technology initiatives.
- Establish portfolio governance processes, delivery standards, project lifecycle methodologies, and reporting practices across the organization.
- Lead portfolio planning, prioritization, resource allocation, and investment reviews to ensure alignment with business strategy and organizational objectives.
- Oversee the divisional project portfolio, ensuring delivery commitments, risks, dependencies, budgets, and resource constraints are effectively managed.
- Develop and maintain executive portfolio dashboards, KPIs, and reporting that provide visibility into portfolio health, delivery performance, financial status, and business outcomes.
- Partner with executive leadership, Product Management, Engineering, Finance, and business stakeholders to establish priorities and resolve cross-functional delivery challenges.
- Manage portfolio governance forums, steering committees, and executive review meetings to support informed decision making.
- Drive continuous improvement of PMO processes, project management methodologies, reporting capabilities, and portfolio management tools.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and implementation partners supporting strategic programs.
- Ensure organizational compliance with project governance standards, financial controls, and enterprise delivery methodologies.
- Build organizational capability by establishing best practices, standardizing delivery processes, and promoting a culture of operational excellence.
What Makes You A Strong Fit
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, with 8+ years of experience in PMO, portfolio management, program management, or related disciplines.
- 3+ years of experience leading project managers, PMO professionals, or cross-functional delivery teams.
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise portfolios, strategic programs, and organizational delivery governance.
- Strong knowledge of portfolio governance, investment prioritization, resource planning, budgeting, and project execution methodologies.
- Experience developing organizational roadmaps, operational plans, executive reporting, and portfolio performance metrics.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, resolve organizational challenges, and drive execution across multiple business functions.
- Experience managing vendors, consulting partners, and external service providers.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior leadership.
We see AI as an important part of how work gets done. While tools may vary, a baseline familiarity with using AI to support efficiency, problem-solving, and quality is expected.
Bonus Points if You Have
- PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, Scrum, or other project and portfolio management certifications.
- Experience supporting large-scale Digital, AI, technology, or business transformation programs.
- Advanced proficiency with portfolio management and reporting tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Experience working in global, matrixed organizations with diverse stakeholder groups.
