Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities

The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning organization serving the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area. It operates the regional bus and light-rail system as well as the Northstar commuter rail, while also managing wastewater collection and treatment and coordinating regional water resources. The organization plans regional parks and administers funding to expand housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income families. Its board is appointed by, and serves at the discretion of, the Governor.
